The bench contributed basically nothing. Hard to win doing that.

Always sucks to lose a game like that, but for game #1 against a solid opponent, not a bad start to the season. It would really help to have Potter around right now because this team needs help off the bench big time, but the Reuvers/Trice combo flashed some brilliance. Aleem Ford's agressive yet under control drive to tie the game with ~1:00 left in regulation was really nice to see, hopefully we get more of that as the season goes along. Wahl is an interesting freshman, he looked overmatched physically at times but I could see him getting increased minutes down the road. Looks like a player

Excited for this season overall - as much as I loved Happ, I think this team will be more consistent offensively without having to work everything through him, and hopefully the team FT % improves as well.

The latter, yes. The former, not looking that way so far.

Happ's ability to distribute the ball and create open shots for others is underappreciated.

Happ was a great talent, but he played a BB style from 20 years ago. I'm also expecting the flow to look better this year, but it's pretty early yet.

King down with an injury at practice doesn't sound good.

The report I saw said it looks like it was an ankle and not major, but no confirmed source yet.

Practice injuries are the worst. Good to hear it doesn't sound too bad.

The one I saw said knee or leg injury but I can't find that article now. Hopefully it is just an ankle injury.

7 minutes remain in 1st half...
Buckeyes lead Villanova 36-10.... Even playing in Columbus, that feels like a typo...

Big Ten will be very tough this season....

25 fouls called in the first half of the Wisconsin game. Yikes.

I don't about the B1G this year. Win against Providence aside, Northwestern looks terrible. Purdue has lost twice to decent teams. Nebraska is about as bad as it gets. Rutgers is Rutgers. Michigan looks to be down. Maybe Maryland, MSU, and OSU will be tough, but no one else scares me one bit. Badgers look awfully mediocre, of course, especially with King a question mark, but who's a safe bet to win lots of games outside the top 3? I think this could be like a 4-bid year. I'd be pretty surprised if it was more than 5 B1G teams in the NCAA's.

And yet, a few experts are expecting 6 from the Big Ten. I agree. It will be an interesting year.

Worth noting that with National Signing Week underway, the Badgers did lock down their entire class yesterday (plus a PWO), and the class was ranked 10th by 247 sports and 15th by Rivals, 1st and 2nd in the Big Ten respectively. A very nice class for Gard, especially in view of the 2021 class thus far as well.

Obviously it could change a little as there are uncommitted players out there still, but it should go down as the highest ranked recruiting class for the Badgers.

This year or next year? Next year is currently ranked #1 in the nation. That obviously won't last once the blue chips start committing but still they should end up top 15 assuming all the commits stick.

They're also largely expected to land 2021 4-star Julian Roper, so that would make for an incredibly exciting class.

I can't see that guy's name without thinking about these two:

Great, unexpectedly dominant win today. I have no doubt Marquette will have a nice season and this win will look very good on a resume come March.

The computer sites (Ken Pom and T-Rank, anyway) have 8 B1G teams in the top 40. Nebraska and Northwestern will be poor and Minnesota, Rutgers and Iowa will probably be on the poor side of mediocre but everybody else should be hoping to make the tournament. I'll say it ends up with 7 bids.

Great all around game from UW today. The hallmark of the Ryan years was the tremendous development from players throughout their 4 or 5 year career. If a couple of Trice, Reuvers, Ford, Davison, and King are markedly better players as upper classmen than they were their first 2/3 years then UW looks to be in an excellent shape for many years to come. That is the only question mark on Gard's resume, as he is clearly a great coach and the '20/'21 classes show he can recruit too (or the assistant coaching staff can recruit).
