Begelton. I wanted him to make it but he’s probably just a guy.

They are keeping Malik Taylor.

To this day, it still surprises me that Tim Tebow didn’t catch on as the original Taysom Hill. It’s so much easier for teams to set their rosters when they have an athlete who can play multiple positions. What a blessing Ervin has been.

I seem to recall Tebow being adamant that he would not play tight end or any position other than QB. I could be wrong about that though.

Probably, but I really thought Belichick was going to figure out how to use him and make everyone else look silly. They could have still listed Tebow as a QB, but there would have been no controversy playing under Brady. On game day, he’s the 3rd QB/RB/TE. What a luxury.

Probably the biggest surprise "keep" so far, although he has been getting publicity the last few days as a potential roster surprise. He was on the practice squad last year, so he knows the system. At 6'2" and 225 lbs, he certainly looks the part of a typical Gute and Lafleur WR.

8 to go correct?

P. Taylor and Black probably 2

Roberts and Ramsey at OLB maybe 2 others

Still a few tough ones left

Damarious Randall was released yesterday by the Raiders.

I’m hardly a BG fan, but I’ve never looked back after that one. Kizer was worth a flyer and Randall is not a starting NFL DB. Just a bad pick from the beginning (weak draft, I know ... but still).

Chris Orr reportedly cut. I wonder if the Packers would look, considering Martin’s injury. I still think Orr is an NFL caliber LB.

Outside of maybe keeping Ento up to IR him I don't see anything too surprising here, especially if Samuels ends up getting that spot. Thought Taylor would make it (Kumerow probably had to be clearly the No. 4 to make the team and it didn't sound like he really separated from ESB) and didn't think they'd give up on Nijman's upside after adding him to the roster late last year. It will be interesting to see who is added when Martin goes on IR. Tipa or Barnes? Go with a different position like Dexter Williams or Lovett? A different team's cut?

Packers signed former Buffalo Bill WR Robert Foster to the PS. He was very good for a stretch in 2018. I like this pickup.

Yep ... solid WR. Good size at 6'2", 200 lbs. Has a track record of solid play. Not sure why he fell out of favor last year after looking so good in 2018.

And ironically, Kumerow signs with Buffalo's PS. I don't count Kumerow as a surprise cut. I was expecting this early in the offseason.
He was maxed out last year at 20 catches and good blocking (for a WR). Time to find someone else with more upside.

Randall's not a bad safety. We just drafted him, asked him to play out of position and then he played out of position when he was hurt and looked awful.

But I'm with you on the trade. By the time his second season was up, it was definitely worth taking a flier on Kizer to ship him out. I don't recall any specifics, but I thought he had a few issues on the sidelines or in the locker room(not to mention he was pretty hated by the fan base). I could see him catching on as a nickel corner, 3rd safety type.

Damn...just looked at Orr's 40 time and saw he ran a 4.65. I thought he was expected to run a much slower 40, but if that's a better measure of his speed, yeah, that'd be a great addition. I'd prefer Connelly, but both were impressive at Wisconsin. Both are extremely instinctual and smart LB'ers.

This is where not being able to watch any of these guys sucks from a fans perspective. Haven't seen any of the CB's this year. Ento looked more like a safety to me last year, but the Packers are obviously very high on him.
WR'er, I'm sure it has to be hard on the coaches as well. St. Brown is a guy Rodgers has talked about(so was Kumerow for what that's worth) and clearly has the upside.

And Nijman...that RT spot is going to be a problem for the Packers. At least early in the season with Turner banged up and Wagner coming back from an injury. I'd love to have seen how much progress Nijman had made and if he got any playing time at RT.

Should be a real fun opening day, fill with surprises.

And the Foster signing...seems like a really nice one. Had a really nice stretch to finish his rookie year with a pretty erratic Josh Allen throwing to him. And he has a lot of ability after the catch, a big factor in this scheme(though obviously that's important in any scheme).

I expect an obvious regression from last year's 13-3 team, but am still pretty fired up about this team. I think it's very likely they play better on offense...their defense doesn't get quite as many turnovers and they end up with ~10 wins...which could win the division. I do think all 4 teams in the North have a legitimate chance to win the division this year.

I'm not sure how the Lions are close. Chicago has a glimmer of hope, but I think last season showed more of their true colors and they didn't really add much this year.

I'm thinking it is a neck-and-neck race with the Vikings.

Wow, I didn't even realize that Clay Matthews didn't even make a roster.

I wonder what he needs to sign? I'd imagine he'd be better at MLB than what we have now.

Neat article showing the projected starting lineup for each NFC North team along with each player’s PFF score from 2019. Indicates the division race will be tight again.

I think Clay has offset language in his Rams contract, meaning money he earns in 2020 from another team would reduce the amount the Rams still owe him. It’s hard to see him risking his health for the vet minimum if he has nothing to gain in the monetary sense. Maybe he’d consider joining a playoff team in November or December as a pass rush specialist?

I've paid minimal attention to NFL until yesterday, I forgot that I agreed to play in a fantasy football league after intending not to participate in any this year. I looked at rosters for a couple hours and when I got to the Packers skill positions, I was extremely underwhelmed. It's like we took our receiving corps of Adams and bleh from last year, got rid of our 3rd and 4th best options, and ran it back. Even if Rodgers is indeed primed for an FU year after the draft, he doesn't appear to have the weapons. We seem better setup to run big sets and run and work play action. A lot of 1 and 2 wr sets with 2 te and sometimes 2 rb. I just don't see how our offense is successful unless we run that type of offense.

Unless the defense takes a big step forward, this feels like a 7-9 team to me. That's possible I suppose since I know we made it a priority in the off season again.
