Excluding Adams (obviously), Jones, Funchess, Lazard, and Sternberger, which of our lower expectation WR/TE/RBs will make the biggest impact to the passing game in 2020?

There is still talent and opportunity, but who will take the step?

I'll vote for Shepherd. I like the diversity of skills he brings from our prototypical 6'4" WR, so I believe he will get more opportunities. He fell flat last year, but I predict a second year jump for him.

Honorable mentions to go Tonyan and St. Brown.
- I thought Tonyan was going to break out last year, but never seemed to get any traction behind our poor TE play. He'll have more opportunity this year sans Graham, but it was obvious in the playoffs that Sternberger passed him quickly.
- St. Brown lost his sophomore season and I thought he was sneaky good at the end of 2018. But its also troubling that what sounded like a "simple" injury kept him out the whole year. Hopefully it was just more serious than reported and not that no one had interest in bringing him back.

MVS troubles me. Seems like he has a ton of talent, but just can't put it together

I kinda dig Ervin as a slot/gadget guy. He actually had a pretty sizable role in the offense by the end of the season, and brings much-needed speed and wiggle. If they ignore the slot position in the draft, Ervin could theoretically take a lot of those reps.

I think Sternberger is a good breakout candidate with St. Brown being a dark horse. I’ve always been keen on EQ because I thought they got great value in the 6th round (the Packers obviously thought so too or they wouldn’t have taken a 3rd receiver).

I left out Sternberger because people's expectations for him are higher. He hasn't broken out, but if he was in the pole, I'd expect him to get 90+% of the votes. Similar with Lazard. He didn't really breakout last year but close. This was trying to see what else might come out of the guys with lower expectations on them..

Shepherd if I had to pick one from that list. Let's face it though, a big part of it is which one does Rodgers like.

Where's the option for none of the above?

It’s why I picked Mercedes Lewis. At least he will block well. The rest of this list is just full of stinkers.

That is fair. I was trying to be positive ( [smile] ), but it is a good chance that none of them will be productive.

I appreciate the positivity. I am going the other way where I hope most of these guys are not on the team and Gutey has found upgrades.

I'd guess at least 5 guys from that list are near locks for the team (J.Williams, Ervin, Lewis, Tonyan, and MVS). Shepherd is and St. Brown (and maybe D. Williams) seem more boom/bust types with a huge range of potential outcomes from impactful to fall-on-their-face-bust. But the rest of the group, I tend to agree with you.

I'm sticking with Tonyan for one more year. He what turned out to be a pretty serious core injury he suffered vs Dallas. When he came back he was mostly a blocker, but he's got a lot of talent and not much in front of him.

You think some of that is on Rodgers? He doesn't seem to have a lot of patience for young players and MVS had nice stretches, but then made some mistakes and disappeared last year.

St. Brown and MVS both have plenty of talent...but lots of players do. The difference between the elite WR'ers at that level and the guys who don't make it is often pretty small.
