This is nothing against the elite stars of baseball, but I so much prefer seeing guys like Brett Phillps and Ji Man Choi being World Series heroes than Mookie Betts or Clayton Kershaw.

There is no reason that the Rays should beat the Dodgers. But I hope they do.

What a huge ninth inning.
if the dodgers win that game it's pretty much lights out. I don't think Tampa could win three straight against the dodgers.
Now it's at least a six game series and the best two out of three.

Fun 9th inning. Happy for Maverick.

I always thought he was gonna be a stud. Whoops. Hope he can get a ring.

Amazing game, overall! Very entertaining and the type of game that kept even novice fans watching (maybe???)

I am happy for Phillips and the Rays.

I can't help but imagine how LAME the whole thing would have been had there been no fans and it was up to the whims of the ballpark PA guy running the crowd "machine."

Yeah, that's a game that makes a series classic, especially if it goes 7. Happy for Phillips! Rays are fun.

Ain’t no classic if the Rays don’t win, especially if it doesn’t go seven games either.

Wow - Vin Scully’s favorite World Series moments include Brett Maverick Phillips (second half of video)!

If people in Tampa actually cared, they’d be rioting in the streets. Betts, Seager, and Turner were 0-for-6 with 6 K’s.

Yep, Kevin Cash is a moron. 73 pitches with your ace and he gives up a single, so time to take him out. This isn't August.

I wonder how much of the “3rd time through the order” numbers changed when hitters lost access to in-game video.

No matter what the numbers said, that was possibly the worst World Series managerial decision of all time.

I think he was mad like everyone else at not getting to see Snell continue an historic performance.

I dunno, man; historic performance or not, you gotta think about his next start. I mean, he threw 73 pitches through five and a third!

I think sometimes people take analytics way too far. We know starters tend to do worse the third time through the order, that does not mean pull your cy young ace in the 6th when he has been absolutely dominant because we've just hit the third time through the order. Analytics does not provide a strict book for all decision making, there has to be some situational awareness.

If the Brewers ever reach the Series again, I can definitely see Counsell doing the same thing to, say, Woodruff, that Kevin Cash did to Snell

They are reporting Justin Turner left the game tonight due to a positive COVID test. Don’t they get the results to those before the game?
