Does he have a chance to pitch for anyone at this point? If no, hey beating out yo guerra wilkerson isn't impossible.

Makes me wonder where Arrieta Lynn Cobb are at? How long is this game of Chicken going to play out.

So, is this an indication they need more depth at AAA because they are going to be losing potential pieces at that level and need the arm or just a depth pickup or does DS view this as a value option for the opening day rotation?

No it's not. But why would Miley agree to this contract with heavy incentives regarding IP & GS if he didnt think he had a real chance to pitch and pitch quite a bit for Milwaukee.

Hopefully he has some type of early-season opt-out date, which he will exercise so he can go pitch every fifth day for the Marlins. That's the type of team for Miley. He shouldn't be anywhere near a playoff-contending rotation.

Injuries can happen at any time. Heck, we learned of the finger issue with Edwin Santana a few weeks ago and one of the Tiger pitchers went down on the opening of their camp & needs TJ tomorrow.

Edit: checked the name - Bryan Garcia, a 22 yr old prospect..

Think the Tigers may be interested in a 31-year-old workhorse lefty? He'd be cheap!

If we have to move far enough down the chain to have to start Miley, just cancel the season lol. Really, I'm struggling to see him as an upgrade over anyone.

I'd rather go Suter and Wilkerson. I'd rather trust with Guerra... and at least Gallardo has a history of quality prior to the last 2 years. He's 5th ahead of Espino... and Derby or even Perrin might be more appealing.

Well, I hope he's ahead of Espino, considering Paolo is in the Rangers organization now. Actually, no I don't.

So I missed that we lost a journeyman farm hand... shoot me.

Miley's that level of bad. I don't have any issue in adding him except that there's now a chance we may actually use him.

I don't think there's much risk of seeing him unless we don't add a high end starter or have multiple injuries. And even if we don't add a starter, the competition for the 5th spot should be fairly intense. Guerra/Gallardo/Suter/Wilkerson...Miley would have a tough time beating them out. It also wouldn't be the worst thing to have him pitch in AAA, I think we are a bit thin for starters at that level.

I’m praying that this is not the move to add an arm. Miley is a batting practice pitcher at best

This guy has no chance of making the MLB roster and even less than that to start 29 games in his contract.

Truly nothing to see here.

Anyone know if Miley shares an agent with anyone else who their interested in? This is akin to bringing back Peralta. He's that bad.

He is represented by O’Connell Sports Management. They represent Brett Phillips, but other than that I don’t see any other connection.

Even though I think the team will add a more significant pitcher before the season begins, I’m going to say - beginning the season with Wade Miley or Yovani Gallardo in the rotation is complete failure.

Part of my almost wonders if this was done as part of the negotiations with another player. Almost like a situation that says "hey we have enough depth and don;t need to over pay for any pitcher".

With that said, I still don't understand it. I don't see any way the Miley makes a positive contribution to any big league team this year. If he is on our roster, my expectations for the season take a big hit.

And I'm really hoping Cobb doesnt say screw you then, I'll go somewhere else.

I really want Cobb added to our rotation.

If Miley pitches well in spring training, I think he will probably be a SP in AAA colorado springs and serve as pitching depth in case of injuries.

Does this mean they are out of the running for Jesse Chavez?

Now go get Peavy & Lincecum and our 2012 rotation is set.

Seriously though, if he ever sees Milwaukee I'll be disappointed.
