I would say the earliest would be 4 weeks, but 6-8 weeks more likely. Depends on which muscle involved and where the tear is located. If it is mid substance and truly mild that would be the shortest time frame. The muscle or mid-substance area has a much better blood supply than a tendon. Thus it heals much faster. If it involves tendon or attachment area it heals slower and that is where PRP/Stem Cells are an option to induce or speed up healing.

Options for the Brewers and Wade Miley:

1. Put him on the roster and big league DL. (Not happening.)
2. Pay him a $100K retention bonus on Saturday and rehab him in the Minors.
3. Release him with the intention of re-signing him to a Minors deal after Saturday.
4. Release him.

No. He'd have to be added to the 40-man roster first. 60-day DL is for major league deals.

Option 2 seems to be the best one, IMO.

I'd go with option 3. He's already said he doesn't want to go to a new team, and this would give him the opportunity to rehab as long as needed. I know $100,000 isn't a lot in the whole scheme of things, but why throw that money away? No one is going to be competing against the Brewers to sign an injured Wade Miley.

Maybe, but he did get hurt pitching for the Crew. This wasn't him being stupid on a dirt bike.

It's the sort of gesture that might tip the balance for the next guy we want to bring in for a NRI.

I think releasing an injured Miley without pay/rehab could hurt their chances at signing future attractive minor league free agents.

That makes it sound like #2 from McCavy's Tweet is the likely outcome.

"The most successful (people) know that performance over the long haul is what counts. If you can seize the day, great. But never forget that there are days yet to come."

Miley's opt out date to be extended until after rehab.

As others have said, the Brewers and Wade Miley have reached an agreement. He did not exercise his out today, and the Brewers will pay his $100K retention bonus to keep him on a Minor League deal while he rehabs his groin injury.

wade miley threw 37 pitches yesterday for class aa biloxi. the brewers plan to have him start again sunday and get up to 55-60 pitches.

working against wade miley's chances in joining the rotation soon: junior guerra pitching well and brandon woodruff pitching well for colorado springs, plus a full 40-man roster.

working for wade miley's chances in joining the rotation soon: taking his spring training into consideration, an optionable brent suter if he continues to struggle, and an opening on the 40-man if stephen vogt and/or manny pina can return soon, likely leading to jett bandy's removal from the 40-man roster.

one has to wonder if the brewers are hoping that vogt's activation can happen at the same time that miley is stretched out for a big league rotation.

I doubt Alec Asher is long for the 40-man roster, so that might be where Miley's spot comes from.

63 pitches for wade miley yesterday; certainly not a pretty outing . . . three innings, six hits, three homers, one strikeout. he'll get at least one more start, targeting 90 pitches.

Obviously not great, but I think it's important to remember these are just tune-ups and he is probably(obviously) not game ready. Now, do I want to see him start over, say, Woodruff? No, but if he takes a start from Suter, well, it probably isn't the worst thing in the world.

Are they tune-ups, though? I'd argue that he is pitching for his Brewers career. If he doesn't perform at least marginally well, I don't think there is any way they can put him in the rotation. It still feels weird to say, for for once, this tam is not lacking starting pitching depth.

with so many players on the disabled list (including aaron wilkerson on the minor league dl), i'm more concerned about miley taking away a 40-man spot from someone else, because we need healthy minor league depth on the 40-man.

i've mentioned before . . . i'm hoping that the brewers are holding out on stephen vogt and manny pina both being activated by the time miley is called to the rotation. jett bandy out, leaving three catchers on the 40-man, and miley taking that spot.

otherwise, the club gambles in transferring corey knebel to the 60-day disabled list. i'd like for the brewers to preserve all other players currently on the 40-man (could make an exception for oliver drake, though).

I would agree that he is pitching for his Brewers Career, but these rehab games are the definition of tune-ups(building arm strength, feel for pitches, etc.).

Do I think they should put him in the rotation over other options? No.
