Brewers have 17 of their next 27 at home. If they ever wanted to go on a run in 2019, the time to do it is staring them right in the face. If Stearns and Counsel have somehow managed to fix the bullpen, their lineup has the potential to jump up from currently being "average" in MLB with 4.8 runs per game.

"Fix the Bullpen" is actually make the entire pitching staff the bullpen... it might be the answer!

8/9/19: Hernan Returns. Wins are going to be cranked out in great big bunches. This is going to be spectacular.

Don’t look now but, Black hasn’t walked a batter in his last 3 outings, so he’ll be up soon to pair with Devin, giving us a probable K tandem down the stretch. Hader if used properly, fireman, will in all probability pitch like he’s capable, add Pomeranz and a well rested Burnes and boom > dominant pen. This all before September, then add Suter Nelson lyles and as long as this team is within 1-2 runs after 3, it should hold for a comeback win 95% of the time, which is why this team is gonna be tough to beat in September. Book it.

If we extrapolate the rest of the season using the last 5 games, we wont lose another game.

Albers is 2 for 2 in save opportunities this week. He's going to blow up at some point, but maybe they can get another 6-8 weeks of useful late inning relief out of him.

Since the all star break our staff's era is 17th in baseball. Considering what we have had to do pitching wise with all the injuries that feels like a minor win.

The Brewers now have 198 home runs in 123 games, on pace for 261. That's just nuts.

There are three things America will be known for 2000 years from now when they study this civilization: the Constitution, jazz music and baseball. They're the three most beautifully designed things this culture has ever produced. Gerald Early

Over the past 10 games the Brewers 7-3 record is the best among all teams in the NL Central.

Even more nuts is that's only 3rd in the NL in homers. We're gonna see a large handful of teams hit 250 dingers or more this year.

Needless to say, our 2019 season will probably come down to these next few weeks of games. 3 at STL, 3 vs AZ, 3 vs STL, 3 at CHC, 2 vs HOU and then 4 vs CHC. Does going 9-9 in this stretch keep us in the hunt? Honestly, a .500 record in this brutal stretch feels like it's probably a best-case scenario - and much more likely that this team plays under .500 against this high-level competition. If we do go 9-9 in this stretch, I think it's probably going to take something like a 15-5 record in the final 20 games (after this stretch) to get us into the playoff picture at the end of the year.

This being the optimism thread, I'm going to say they go 17-1 in that stretch. I would have said 18-0, but you have to be realistic [wink]

Last year, on August 23rd, the Milwaukee Brewers were 3.5 games out of first place.

They ended up one game away from the World Series.
