I'll be curious to see years/$$

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I am sorry but it does make the cubs just a bit better at this point.

I’m getting ready for the “our pitching isn’t that bad, you guys always overreact” posts.

They'll lose a lot of games in the 9th inning if he pitches like he did in the playoffs last year.

Don’t count on it.

Hey, just great! [rolling eyes]

There are three things America will be known for 2000 years from now when they study this civilization: the Constitution, jazz music and baseball. They're the three most beautifully designed things this culture has ever produced. Gerald Early

Reasonable deal in my opinion. Cubs clearly in the drivers seat if he is who he's been.

According to Jon Heyman it’s $43 million over three years.

It should be prorated if 3/45. Whatever he agreed to get paid this year will have money shaved off for what portion of the season he missed. At least it usually gets reported that way and then someone eventually says they didn’t pay “X” amount because he wasn’t with the team all year.

It might actually be $40mil through 2021...all depends on how they are reporting the contract.

Right about where I thought. Well worth the money, now they have him for their window, instead of us having him for ours. I Was hoping with everything that’s happened up to this week with the crew, that attanasio would have allowed Stearns or that Stearn’s would have wanted this tremendous closer on our team.

I'm happy he signed somewhere. Not happy it was with the Cubs, but whatever. Time to move on. Cubs have potentially one of the best closers in the game. The Brewers KNOW they have one of the best closers in the game. This move makes the race more exciting.

"Just to be clear: The $43 million in Craig Kimbrel's deal is fully guaranteed. The $10 million he'll receive this season is not prorated. He will get $16 million in 2020 and 2021, and the extra $1 million is guaranteed via the buyout on a fourth-year option."

Agreed. Don’t care at all. It’ll make it that much more fun spoiling their season, again.
