I still think he was benched once for hustle as well though

I'm going to stop beating this horse because I don't want to come off as "antiHall" (because I'm not), but yes - Hall was benched twice for not running out ground balls. I think it was back in 2005, but it might have been 2004.

Not "Anti-Hall" here either but I believe he was benched for dogging it after a ball he booted at short last year as well...

And as far as all the great things Billy does in the community - what does that have to do with him not hustling out of the box. Does he get a pass because he's a good guy?
It was mentioned because people started to make comments about his 'character', etc.

Hall would likely not have reached 3B. I'm no Russ, but I'd bet the probabilities on that would be pretty low. Yes, you should always hustle. But when a MLB slugger gets all (or a lot) of a pitch, he tends to gaze at it a bit. I neither endorse nor disown this practice, but it's not like Bill's the only one. Give him a break.

Rickie would have been at third
Perhaps. He's also much faster than Bill. But I know you're getting at the 'hustle' thing here. I'd be willing to bet that if Hall did hustle, & got thrown out at 3rd, we'd have some "Hall = Bad Baserunner?" thread.
