Look for Nashville and Wisconsin media notes at the links just prior to their game times.

New this season: Brevard County has media notes; as of now, it's a unique link each day, but look for it just prior to game time each day within the "Stats and Scores" banner here.

1. Read affiliate's media notes.

2. Learn cool stuff.

GIVIN’ ‘EM HELLWEG: Right-hander Johnny Hellweg makes his 12th start of the year for the Sounds this evening. The fireballer has won three of his last four outings and departed the lone no-decision in line for a victory before a blown save by the bullpen. Opponents are hitting just .198 against Hellweg this season, the 3rd-lowest mark among PCL starting pitchers. The right-hander has been especially tough on right-handed hitters, holding them to a a .130 average (13-for-100), including a current 0-for-27 stretch.

BA is going to be swamped by draft coverage & analysis in the immediate future so the Hot Sheet comes out a day early. Also, no chat so no additional nuggets of wisdom for us.

Prospect Hot Sheet (June 6): Xander Bogaert’s Big Bat Leads The List

No. 4 Gerrit Cole, rhp, Pirates
Team: Triple-A Indianapolis (International)
Age: 22
Why He’s Here: 2-0, 0.00, 2 GS, 14 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 SO

The Scoop: Yes, the 2011 No. 1 overall pick’s been beaten to the majors by other 2011 and ’12 draftees—four days after Cole gave up eight runs in a Triple-A start, 2012 No. 4 pick Kevin Gausman made his big league debut for the Orioles. Don’t worry about Cole, however. He’ll be there soon enough. He’s bounced back from that disastrous May 19 outing by allowing just two earned run in his last 20 innings, including this week’s pair of matching seven shutout inning performances.

No. 7 Tony Cingrani, lhp, Reds
Team: Triple-A Louisville (International)
Age: 23
Why He’s Here: 0-0, 3.86, 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 9 SO

The Scoop: If not for the timing of his start, Cingrani would likely be back in Cincinnati right now. When Johnny Cueto took a trip to the disabled list, Cingrani was the logical replacement, but because Cingrani had started on Monday, he’ll have to wait until Cueto’s next turn in the rotation to likely make his big league return. He still needs to use his secondary stuff more, and he can hit his pitch count limit earlier than the Reds would like at times, but Cingrani has already shown he can get big league hitters out, which is a nice luxury for the Reds to have in a sixth starter.

No. 12 Javier Baez, ss, Cubs
Team: high Class A Daytona (Florida State)
Age: 20
Why He’s Here: .421/.542/.789 (8-for-19), 1 HR, 4 2B, 7 RBIs, 6 R, 1 BB, 4 SO

The Scoop: Baez’s hot spell actually stretches back two weeks. He’s hitting .339 (19-for-56) in his last 14 games with 10 extra-base hits, 13 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He’s been hit by five pitches in that stretch, but probably not too many times in three-ball counts, seeing as he drew two walks against 12 strikeouts.

The Stetson Allie love is becoming as tiresome as the Oscar Taveras love from last year. Taveras has quietly put up an .849 OPS as a 21 year old in AAA, that doesn't suck.

SAL notes: Allie relishing Power role

Thursday's doubleheader in Fort Myers cancelled
By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Due to the inclement weather stemming from Tropical Storm Andrea, the scheduled doubleheader on Thursday, June 6 between the Brevard County Manatees and the Fort Myers Miracle at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers has been cancelled.

Since the Manatees and the Miracle do not play each other again in the first half of the season, the two games will not be made up.

Brevard County's next game is scheduled for Friday, June 7 at 7:05 PM (6:05 Central) against the Daytona Cubs at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach.

The Manatees will then return home to Space Coast Stadium on Saturday, June 8 to take on the Cubs at 6:35 PM (5:35 Central).

Who? Must be another no-name like that Carlos Rondon guy that Melvin didn't remember.

BA: Have you ever caught? For half a population, you know what he's going through right now.
Rock: Yep, on a bounce, & uh, gets 'im. That shouldn't happen on 4th of July, should it?
BA: No -- speakin' of liberty bell...

I admit that I'm fond of the Reds organization for some reason that I unable to really put a finger on. It probably goes back to the Nasty Boys, they appealled to me even though I wasn't much of an NL fan at the time. No DH? Hogwash...

With that being said, I don't get the lack of affection around the prospect community for Tony Cingrani. He runs his FB into the mid 90s, spots it wherever he wants, he has a plus change, an improving slider, and who doesn't love a LHP? I would happily insert him into Milwuakee's rotation tonight, and then extend him tomorrow.

Just-traded LHP Thomas Keeling made a nice first impression on Braves' fans Tuesday night --

Chattanooga Bottom of the 7th

Pitching Change: Thomas Keeling replaces Michael Lee, batting 9th.
Bobby Coyle strikes out swinging.
Rafael Ynoa strikes out swinging.
Joc Pederson grounds out, second baseman Barrett Kleinknecht to first baseman Christian Marrero.

***

Game was tied at 1-1 at the time, so it was a big spot. Good for him...

Yeah, every manager's dream to begin a doubleheader -- don't record a single out.

Birmingham Top of the 1st

Marcus Semien singles on a line drive to center fielder Rene Tosoni.
Keenyn Walker walks. Marcus Semien to 2nd.
Dan Black walks. Marcus Semien to 3rd. Keenyn Walker to 2nd.
Andy Wilkins walks. Marcus Semien scores. Keenyn Walker to 3rd. Dan Black to 2nd.
Michael Earley walks. Keenyn Walker scores. Dan Black to 3rd. Andy Wilkins to 2nd.
Pitching Change: Mark Williams replaces Arcenio Leon.

Williams walks in a run with his first batter faced, this is a big "Oh, boy" inning for Alex.

4-0 after top of 1st; Stars pitchers tossing combined one-hitter, though --

Pitching Change: Mark Williams replaces Arcenio Leon.
Jared Mitchell walks. Dan Black scores. Andy Wilkins to 3rd. Michael Earley to 2nd.
Tyler Saladino called out on strikes.
Mike Blanke walks. Andy Wilkins scores. Michael Earley to 3rd. Jared Mitchell to 2nd.
Cody Puckett pops out to second baseman Nick Shaw on the infield fly rule.
Marcus Semien called out on strikes.

***

Williams allows just two inherited runners to score, actually a serviceable job given the situation, just much more painful with walks rather than hits...

Tyrone Taylor just popped out in foul territory behind 3B, the play by Renato Nunez was as good as I've seen an IF make this year. I wonder if it will end up in the highlights even though it was made the by opposing team.

Still 0-0 going to the 4th.
