As we reminded you Sunday, Monday evening's Wisconsin game will be broadcast on Green Bay's MyNew32 TV with a pre-game at 6:00 PM.

The next scheduled DVR reminder for you is two days from now on Wednesday, April 30th (same channel), which may prove to have a larger audience as the big league club plays a matinee that day.

Look for these just prior to the respective game times --

Nashville Media Notes - it's a unique link each day, but look for it under the "Roster" banner on the Sounds' site.

Brevard County Media Notes - again, it's a unique link each day, but look for it under the "Multimedia" banner on the Manatees' site.

Wisconsin Media Notes - Linked on the Rattler Radio blog

Huntsville Notes from Steve:

TODAY’S GAME: Is game 5 of a 5-game series vs Buddy Bailey’s Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. This is the fifth of twenty games between the Stars and Smokies. The Smokies beat the Stars 2-1 last night. The Stars still lead the series 3-1. Last year the Stars went 8-12 against the Smokies.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: After tonight’s game, the Stars will continue their two city 10 game road trip and travel 362 miles and 5 ½ hours to Montgomery, Alabama for a five-game series starting Tuesday night against the Montgomery Biscuits. Going into today, Montgomery and Huntsville have the top two records in the Southern League.

RECAPPING YESTERDAY: Tennessee 1B Dustin Geiger broke a 1-1 tie in the 7th inning when he homered against Stars RHP Taylor Jungmann to give the Smokies a 2-1 lead. It was the second straight night where the game was decided by a late homerun (Ramirez, HR, 13TH). Jungmann gave the Stars their 10th quality start of the year, but the offense was held to just one hit. The Stars couldn’t take advantage of the eight 8 walks from Smokies starter Pierce Johnson. The Stars left eight men on base through the first four innings. However, after that the Stars never got a base-runner on after the 4th inning.

MORE FROM YESTERDAY: The Stars were held to a season low one hit yesterday afternoon. Their previous low was three hits in a game which they did twice (Opening day in Jacksonville and April 21 vs Mobile) Just four days ago the Stars one-hit Mobile, and now Tennessee one-hit the Stars….Shawn Zarraga was the only Star to get a hit. He has recorded at least one hit in every game he’s started this year which is 14. Yesterday, was the 5th time this year that the Stars scored just one run…When they score 1-run this year the Stars are 1-4…The Stars 5 game road winning streak came to an end. The Stars still outscored their opponents 37-7 during the streak.

Because WTKI radio may need to alert locals to severe weather, there will be no Huntsville broadcast tonight. The game is taking place in Kodak, Tennessee.

Scary stuff in greater Huntsville.

The Voice of the Stars, Steve Jarnicki, will be tweeting a bit more than usual tonight, and will be providing detail beyond the game log.

Five-game skid snapped with 6-5 win over Threshers
By Andrew Luftglass / Brevard County Manatees

CLEARWATER, Fla. - With Logan Schafer joining the team on a Major League rehab assignment, the Brevard County Manatees snapped a five-game losing streak by defeating the Clearwater Threshers, 6-5 on Monday night at Bright House Field.

Schafer went 1-for-2 with an RBI double in his brief appearance. He also started in center field before being lifted from the game in the third inning for Jose Sermo.

Brevard County starting pitcher Jorge Lopez (2-2, 4.50) earned his first win since April 7, as the right-hander reached a season-high in strikeouts with seven over 5.2 innings. Lopez allowed five runs in total, but only three of them were earned because of a pair of Manatees' errors. He also walked one and surrendered seven hits.

The 'Tees trailed 1-0 early after a solo homer by Pete Lavin in the first, but the Manatees (12-12) struck back with five runs between the second and third innings.

Brandon Macias delivered the first blow for the 'Tees in the second. With Nathan Orf on first, Macias laced a double down the right field line. Clearwater right fielder Nick Ferdinand bobbled the ball in right, which allowed Orf to cross home.

Later in the inning, Macias moved to third on a wild pitch and Mike Garza brought him home with an RBI ground out. Schafer's RBI double scored Yadiel Rivera to round out the three-run second.

Tyrone Taylor wasted no time providing insurance in the third, as he led off the frame with a line drive home run over the left field wall. Cameron Garfield later singled and moved to second on a passed ball and Orf worked a walk. That gave Macias another chance to come through and he drilled a double down the left field line to plate Garfield. That two-bagger gave the 'Tees a 5-1 lead.

Both Taylor and Macias went 3-for-4 on the night, with Macias recording at least two hits in four of his last five games.

The advantage felt secure for Brevard County, but a crazy play in the fourth pulled the Threshers (5-19) closer. KC Serna led off the inning with a bunt single to bring Lavin to the plate. Lavin slammed a double to left field and Serna tried to score from first.

The Manatees relay throw came to shortstop Orlando Arcia in shallow left, but Arcia's throw slipped out of his hand and rolled toward first base. With nobody in the vicinity, the ball kept rolling. Serna scored easily and Lavin hustled around to score on the two-base error to cut Brevard's lead to 5-3.

Clearwater inched within one run the next inning. Gabriel Lino led off with a single and Anthony Phillips' sacrifice bunt moved him over to second. With two outs, Angelo Mora singled home Lino to make it a one-run ballgame.

Fortunately for the Manatees, they pushed across an insurance run in the sixth. After reaching on a single and moving to second on a ground out, Sermo tried to steal third base. Lino, the Threshers catcher, bounced the throw to third and it rolled into left field. Sermo crossed home easily to expand the 'Tees advantage to 6-4.

The Threshers scored once more in the sixth and brought the tying run on base in the ninth, but Tanner Poppe shut the door with a strikeout of Lavin and picked up his sixth save of the season.

In seven appearances thus far in 2014, Poppe has not allowed a run or a walk and has struck out 12 in 10 innings of work.

Brevard County and Clearwater will continue their three-game series on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. It will be a battle of southpaws as left-hander Hobbs Johnson (1-3, 3.00) is expected to start for the 'Tees against Threshers lefty Ethan Stewart (1-1, 1.47).

Brevard County Box Score

The bats finally woke up a bit tonight with six runs on eleven hits. Tyrone Taylor reached in four of his five plate appearances with a walk, two singles and a home run. Brandon Macias stayed hot, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. Macias has multi-hit games in four of his last five and is 9-for-19 during that span. As mentioned above, Logan Schafer was 1-for-2 with a double before giving way to Jose Sermo. It was Sermo's first game action in ten days and he made it count, collecting a hit, a stolen base and a run scored. Nathan Orf was 0-for-1, but reached base three more times with a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch. (How long before someone creates the 'Did Nathan Orf get hit by a pitch' Twitter account?)

Jorge Lopez went 5.2 innings and gave up five runs, but only three were earned following errors on Arcia and Macias. He gave up seven hits, but also struck out seven. Michael Strong relieved Lopez and pitched 2.1 scoreless innings. Strong has given up only one run in eight relief appearances now. Tanner Poppe closed it out for save number six. As noted above, Poppe still has yet to be scored upon this season.

Importantly, thanks to the hospitality of Smokies management, the Stars will stay an additional night locally near Kodak and not make the overnight trip to Montgomery in tornado-laden conditions. All safe...

Stars Drop Season Finale In Tennessee

Kodak, TN - The Huntsville Stars were held to just four hits Monday night in a 4-1 loss to the Tennessee Smokies at Smokies Park. The Stars dropped the final two games of the series after winning the first three. The Stars still won the series over the Smokies.

The Stars took a 1-0 lead on Nick Ramirez's two-out solo home run in the first inning. Ramirez hit three home runs in the series and now has five on the season.

The Smokies scored all four of their runs off Huntsville starter Brent Suter (3-1) in the sixth inning. With runners at first and second base and nobody out, Zeke DeVoss bunted towards the third base line. Suter fielded the bunt, threw wildly to Ramirez at first base. Charlie Cutler and John Andreoli both scored on Suter's throwing error. Kris Bryant and Raffi Lopez both produced RBI doubles in the inning as well.

Suter, who suffered his first loss of the season, pitched five innings allowing four hits on three runs. He struck out four while walking one.

The Stars are now 15-10 on the season and continue to lead the Southern League North standings by three games.

The Stars continue their ten-game road trip with their five-game series starting Tuesday night in Montgomery, Alabama against the Montgomery Biscuits, the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
