We will begin to see some formal minor league roster announcements soon. The formal announcement will come directly from the Sky Sox, not the Brewers. All four minor league affiliates will likely send out their press releases within an hour or so of each other once the Brewers have given them the official go-ahead to do so.

Opening Night is Thursday 4/5!

NOTE: Last season, the affiliates released their rosters on Tuesday AM, just two days prior)

Feel free to link to any formal notices you see here.

Often we learn via farmhand tweets, who has been assigned where, prior to the formal affiliate announcements. We'll link to any of those posts in this thread as they come out.

As you might know, we use the "Your 2018" threads to post and link to feature stories that are outside the scope of game activity covered in the Daily Link Report.

These threads have become among the most popular for viewing here, and we look forward to kicking them off formally.

Please don't speculate here at this time, this is an anxious time for many on the farm, and unfortunately we're also likely going to learn about more player releases in the next few days, in addition to those players excited about their assignments.

Catcher Tyler Heineman (and infielder Jake Hager) driving to Biloxi.

First indication of overall depth, because Heineman should certainly be in AAA.

Wasn't going to get a ton of time with Phillips, Broxton and Wren at Colorado Springs, even though Stokes has probably earned a AAA placement. I think he'll be in AAA way before season's end, though. Wouldn't be surprised if its by June, as the OF depth chart will eventually be thinned through injury and/or trades.

Nick Franklin is going to do some catching for Biloxi this year.

Utility player Nick Franklin, who re-signed with the Brewers after playing in 53 games for them last year, has been sent to Class AA Biloxi to embark on a new endeavor: catching. Franklin did some catching in minor-league games this spring and wants to see if he can increase his versatility by showing he can play that position.

Biloxi Shuckers roster announced.

The initial Biloxi Shuckers roster for the 2018 season has been set by the Milwaukee Brewers. The 25-man roster features 14 pitchers, three catchers, five infielders and three outfielders.

The squad includes 11 of the Top 30 prospects in the Brewers system according to MLB Pipeline, and six of the top 15. Corey Ray (7), Trent Grisham (8) and Troy Stokes Jr. (22) make up the outfield, while Lucas Erceg (4) and Jake Gatewood (19) will play the corner infield positions. On the pitching staff, RHP Luis Ortiz (5), RHP Adrian Houser (13), RHP Cody Ponce (14), LHP Kodi Medeiros (20) and RHP Zack Brown (25) are all slated to be part of the starting rotation.

Several members of the 2017 pitching staff return, including LHP Nick Ramirez , RHP Josh Uhen , LHP Quintin Torres-Costa , RHP Angel Ventura , RHP Tristan Archer and RHP Wuilder Rodriguez . Rounding out the pitching staff is RHP Thomas Jankins , LHP Brad Kuntz and RHP Nate Griep . In total, the Shuckers have 14 pitchers on their staff, 10 right-handers and four lefties.

In the field, Blake Allemand and Wendell Rijo return from the 2017 squad, while former Montgomery Biscuits infielder Jake Hager joins the Shuckers after signing with the Brewers this offseason. Behind the plate, the Shuckers will have Dustin Houle , Tyler Heineman and Nick Franklin , who is transitioning from infielder to catcher.

Mike Guerrero returns for his third season to manage the Shuckers. Al LeBoeuf will serve as the hitting coach, while Dave Chavarria takes over as the pitching coach. Bench coach Chuckie Caufield, Strength and Conditioning Specialist Nate Dine and Athletic Trainer Kevan Creighton all return after working on the 2017 Shuckers staff.

Unlike the A-ball rosters, Biloxi's roster is already at 25. No further cut-downs required.

So Perrin, Peralta, and Lopez get a bump to AAA. Unless there's an injury to one of them we don't know about.
