RHP Jean Cruz released from DSL Brewers.

19-year-old was making the transition from the infield (primarily third base) to the mound this spring. Seemingly things didn't pan out. Struggled at the plate, unclear why his 2018 season ended July 4th.

OF Corey Ray to the Temp Inactive list at San Antonio (new dad soon, if not already as of Sunday AM).

RHP Cody Ponce activated from the IL at AA Biloxi.

The Shuckers already had 14 active pitchers and just 11 position players.

Ponce's activation (he pitched) makes that 15-to-11 and there's no hint as of yet how the Shuckers pulled that off without a corresponding transaction.

Look for press releases later today or tomorrow.

RHP Braden Webb will look to overcome his early-season struggles back in Carolina. No word yet on the pitching move that will need to be made to free up a spot with the Mudcats. It's possible Webb cold also be placed on the paper Rocky Mountain roster while working on his game on the side in Zebulon.

From Friday's Link Report:

Has any farmhand had a rougher first month of the season than RHP Braden Webb (especially when measured to expectations?). This was the 2nd time in four starts he's failed to get out of the first inning. Managers love that. An ugly small sample of 15 innings, to be sure, but when you're starting (or piggy-backing Freddy Peralta's brief rehab outing, as Webb did), your sample is supposed to be much larger.

RHP Braden Webb indeed was transferred to Carolina, as per the Southern League transactions page. Carolina's rainout Sunday delays a corresponding move until Monday (maybe even Tuesday, as the Mudcats are idle Monday).

After a rough spot start Saturday (only the 5th start of his pro career - 120 total appearances), LHP Brad Kuntz is back on the paper Rocky Mountain roster.

Good Luck to Dallas. He had an incredible 2017 then fell off the cliff last year and... splashed into the ocean this year. A 125/275/179 slash line is pretty horrible this year. Although the rest of the Mudcats infield, save for Aguilar, has been equally bad. Eddie Silva is the best with a 172/262/280, which pretty much says it all. Hairston better have a really good glove cause a 145/220/157 is not gonna get it done.

Corey Ray back from paternity leave at San Antonio. To make room, C Tuffy Gosewisch goes to the Rocky Mountain paper roster/taxi squad.

As noted in the Drew Rasmussen thread, RHP Drew Rasmussen has been promoted (again), this time from Carolina to Biloxi.

RHP Braden Webb transferred from Rocky Mountain to Carolina (essentially from Biloxi to Carolina).

Via the Shuckers (to make room for RHP Drew Rasmussen):

"RHP Justin Topa has been transferred to the Rocky Mountain Vibes. The 28-year-old made six appearances with the Shuckers this year, going 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA in six innings of work."

The glut of AAA pitching depth thanks to Petricka, Wilson and now Jay Jackson accepting outright assignments causes two pitchers to go the taxi squad today --

RHP Tristan Archer transferred from San Antonio to Rocky Mountain

RHP Jon Olczak transferred from San Antonio to Rocky Mountain

Without providing further details, Wisconsin broadcaster Chris Mehring described Michael Mediavailla's placement as "precautionary" on Thursday's postgame podcast.

Via the Missions:

INF Blake Allemand transferred from San Antonio to Rocky Mountain

OF Troy Stokes Jr. activated from the Injured List

The Brewers making liberal use of the 35-man roster limit for the Rocky Mountain paper roster. That will become more difficult after the start of the Pioneer League season on June 14th.

Mudcats Press Release:

Roster Update: Dula reinstated; Meister released
The Brewers released RHP Christian Meister and reinstated RHP Chris Dula from the Carolina IL today

Dula, 26, had been sidelined since an April 13th outing. Below is the post from his agent Joshua Kusnick in late March:

I'm stunned

Plan was to keep him in extended til velo climbed. He was WAYYYYYYY ahead of where we all assumed he'd be. I'm pumped. Rule 5 year but is on a 2 year milb contract. I cant wait to see him in season!!!

Via BrewCrewBall, the backstory on the Chris Dula signing last December.

Meister, 25, the former Indians farmhand, was signed by the Brewers late last June. Walks have been an issue throughout his pro career, including stints in Australia the past two off-seasons. Hopefully he'll get another opportunity elsewhere.

Hoping for the best from Dula! I remember working in Dbacks minor league spring training when every played wanted to go watch Jason Neighborgall throw BP sessions. Of course, they all wanted to stand behind the pitcher, not the catcher. His career numbers were insane

Activity at Biloxi:

Both RHP Tyler Spurlin and young catcher Alexander Alvarez placed on the 7-day IL. Spurlin's placement was retroactive to May 13th, Alvarez' to the 14th.

Taking their spots are a returning RHP Justin Topa (via the Rocky Mountain paper roster) and making his 2019 debut catcher Robie Rojas, who has been with the Shuckers all along as a bullpen catcher in effect. Technically Rojas had been on the Arizona Brewers "Blue" roster.

Last Sunday, RHP Bubba Derby was placed on the Missions' 7-day IL retroactive to May 9th.
