Supak needs to be promoted. He has a full season’s worth of time in AA and performed very well there last year and this year.

Heck I'm wondering if Supak should just skip AAA and come right up to MLB. It's certainly not unprecedented to do that jump, and it's not like anyone in our current rotation is blocking him. He's already on the 40.

Box: Ogden 3, Rocky Mountain 0

Alternative box includes inning-by-inning linescore

One Raptor run in the 6th, two in the 8th...very little to enjoy from the Vibes' "offense".

Vibes Blanked by Ogden in Series Finale

Read the full summary, but includes two paragraphs of interest --

Tempers flared in the seventh after Vibes’ reliever Brady Schanuel beaned Ogden’s Andy Pages, resulting in a benches-clearing exchange. After the field cleared, José Alberro replaced Schanuel with bases loaded and two out. Alberro secured a critical out, fanning Yurchak to end the threat. Vibes pitchers recorded 11 strikeouts.

Vibes starter Nash Walters set the tone for solid work on the mound. Walters posted two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit, one walk, and one strikeout. In his 25 pitches (13 strikes), Walters lowered his season ERA to a Pioneer League-best 1.45 amongst qualified players. Walters’ abbreviated outing was traced to a drop in velocity after a consultation with the trainer and manager Néstor Corredor, according to the team broadcast.

A bit more detail on the flare-up from the Ogden press here.

RHP Karsen Lindell with a strong relief outing, as was noted in the game summary.

Box: DSL Rangers #1 Squad 7, DSL Brewers/Indians 0

17-year-old rookie Venezuelan RHP Ronnald Rojas was the only Brewer arm, but he walked five of the nine men he faced.

Only two hits for the co-op teams, both singles from Brewer bats, but outside of sidelined SS Carlos Roa, this team has not generated any "breakout" buzz.

Being 18, a CF, and a switch-hitter is a nice combo. A .325 average and 24 steals in 32 attempts helps as well. What a growth year for Reidy Mercado - hello, coaching him up, nice. HR #2 for him in this one.

He struggled here, but let's note that starter RHP Brailin Rodriguez, a Dominican native, is still just 16 years old. Now with six starts under his belt, three solid.

Maryvale's now a combined 12-24, 0-2 Monday, ugh. Toby with the details by lunchtime. But for now:

Blue

Gold

Gold falls despite Corey Ray's efforts, and you'll see a rehab debut as the starting pitcher in that box as well.

We'll kick off Tuesday's Link Report shortly, as there are two matinees today, Biloxi on the road at 10:35 AM Central and Carolina at home, 11:00 AM Central. Both are available via MiLB.TV for subscribers, and the audio links, as always, can be found in the initial post of every Link Report.

You have to wonder why Supak is not being promoted more aggressively. He's made 34 AA starts. Is it his low K rate? Is he the guy they are using as bait to get an established arm? He's allowed a mere 10 HR in 196 AA innings. You'd think that's a huge plus and that he'd be able to be useful in the big leagues keeping the ball in the park.

I thought I read him say he's been focusing on pitching to contact more and not worrying about a K. Just worrying about attacking each hitter. I wouldn't be shocked if he's part of a package this deadline. His stuff doesn't seem to mirror our top 3 young guys in MLB but he's had success at each level thus far

Just a random guess, but a scouting report from this past off-season indicated he had recently developed a new curveball. If that is indeed the case, it’s possible they want him to master that pitch over a full season before exposing him to the higher altitude environments in the PCL where the pitch won’t likely break the same. Again, that is merely a guess.

Wow, have to give you credit for the truly massive amount of information you provide to this site, Sveum too.

We’ll find out soon enough which it is, I’m hoping it’s the trade, because he’s not a middling prospect, and, that means Stearns might be going a little bigger than some of us think.

Final: AZL D-backs 12, AZL Brewers Blue 4

AZL Brewers Blue Box Score

An early lead for the Blues vanished late, and then the game got out of hand in the 9th as the team falls to 7-11. Kevin Hardin was the only Blue with a multi-hit game - the big first baseman is up to a 968 OPS on the year. Jeyner Baez, the converted catcher who has been solid for much of the year as a pitcher, fell apart in the 9th.

AZL Brewers Blue Game Log

Final: AZL Mariners 9, AZL Brewers Gold 2

AZL Brewers Gold Box Score

The Mariners scored multiple runs in 4 different innings, not helped by 4 errors from the Golds, and the good guys fall to a disappointing 5-13.

Corey Ray played the whole game, going 3-4 with a home run, and he may be close to returning to the Missions. Carlos Rodriguez had two hits and stole his first base of the season. Andres Melendez doubled, but was hit by a pitch and later left the game. We'll monitor that was planned time off, or if the HBP was a factor.

Carlos Herrera pitched for the first time in 2019 as he begins his rehab. He walked three, allowed a hit and two runs while recording one out.
