Even Maryvale is off Tuesday for the All-Star Game night.

So we have the two matinees, the usual DSL day games, and that's it.

First baseman Patrick Leonard lifts his OBP to .384 as he reaches four times here. That's good for second best in the Southern League.

This was the first time in 22 outings this year that reliever Cody Ponce gave up more than one run.

Box: DSL Pirates #1 Squad 13, DSL Brewers/Indians 3

9-24 record.

18-year-old 2nd-year-pro Dominican RHP Leony Rosario has made six starts and gone at least four innings in each. His 3.45 ERA looks fine, peripherals need time to develop, but there may be something there for us to follow.

Same age, experience level, country of origin, but RHP Starling Javier has walked 38 in 20 career innings.

Recently-turned 18-year-old 2nd-year-pro Dominican RF Jeicor Cristian had the co-op team's only extra base hit and was the only Brewer to reach twice (double, walk).

Weather: 85 degrees, Sunny.

Every day, it's paradise. Every. day.

I would not be surprised to see Bowden Francis dealt before the end of the month. Seems like a modestly successful Kevin Shackelford/Barrett Astin/Eric Hanhold nondescript college righty type that has some value to other clubs.

Box: DSL Brewers 12, DSL Tigers #1 Squad 3

Outfielder Reidy Mercado, who we highlighted yesterday, celebrated being the lone Brewers' organization position player named to the DSL All-Star Team by going 3-for-6 with a double and stolen base.

There were other offensive stars here - OF Juan Frias (DH'ing here) tripled, doubled and walked, driving in five. 17-year-old rookie Mexican second baseman Sebastian Burciaga, listed at 5'7" but batting cleanup here, was 3-for-5, double and walk.

The mound work was strong among three who have had success this year.

Not listed today, but also named a DSL All-Star was 18-year-old Panamanian rookie RHP Rafael Garcia, he of the 0.97 WHIP.

Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes

***

Box: Carolina 13, Lynchburg 2

Looks like Devin Hairston had to exit early, just a double shy of a cycle:

Carolina Bottom of the 4th

Pat McInerney grounds out, third baseman Connor Smith to first baseman Jonathan Laureano.
Devin Hairston singles on a line drive to center fielder Steven Kwan. Devin Hairston out at 2nd on the throw, center fielder Steven Kwan to shortstop Tyler Freeman.
Wes Rogers singles on a line drive to left fielder Oscar Gonzalez.
Brice Turang grounds out, second baseman Tyler Friis to first baseman Jonathan Laureano.

Lynchburg Top of the 5th

Defensive Substitution: Julio Garcia replaces second baseman Devin Hairston, batting 8th, playing second base.

***

McInerney, Hairston and Henry Power Mudcats to Series Sweep and Sixth Straight Win
The Mudcats totaled 13 runs on a season high 16 hits in a sweep clinching victory versus Lynchburg

Chock-full of details, but nothing specific on Hairston's status, which isn't unusual this soon after the game.
