The game was completed today:

Box (Final): DSL Brewers 7, DSL Diamondbacks #2 Squad 6

Each team would score a single run in the 8th, then the Cerveceritos tallied three in the top of the 9th, and held on for dear life in the bottom of the frame.

Don't pay too much attention to the box score as the averages and ERA's relate to June 25th.

So we'll place all our focus on the 8th and 9th inning game log, which you may kindly review here.

As for Thursday's regularly scheduled DSL action, the full Brewers squad won again on road soil, 9-5 in a seven-inning contest. That Crew is now 20-15, nice.

The DSL Brewers/Indians co-op won today too, a welcome change, 4-2, to improve to 10-25.

Details on those contests during the overnight.

Cory Ray also having a nice game in Biloxi and Williams continues to impress in the relief role. I am curious if we might see him and Rassussem in the brewers pen at some point this season.

Nice to see Pablo Abreu is playing again. Despite the slow start, I'm still high on him.

Also, Devin Williams' last 10 stats are absolutely amazing. They'd have to be really confident in Rasmussen to call him up this year because they don't need to add him to the 40-man yet after the season. Williams on the other hand is making it a distinct possibility he could see Milwaukee this year.

Given how young the offense is this season, it is refreshing to look at the box scores and stats and see that pretty much every player on the main DSL team has been showing at least a minimum competence in hitting. The third string catcher is the only one with an OPS below .600. That hasn't been the case in recent years. Double digit stateside promotions for next season are possible just from the position players.

They also have two of my "Should I be paying more attention to him?" prospects. They weren't high profile signings and didn't start turning it on until recently, but Sebastian Burciaga and Joneiker Ponce de Leon have been consistently hitting above a few much more highly touted prospects in the lineup.

Big Inning For Biloxi Delivers Series-Opening Win
Six Runs in the Fifth Help Shuckers Down Lookouts
By Garrett Greene / Biloxi Shuckers

"In his first appearance since the MLB All-Star Futures Game, RHP Devin Williams hurled two perfect innings, including striking out the side in the ninth. In the second half of the Southern League season, Williams has made six scoreless appearances for Biloxi."

Goodness, Williams' confidence must be sky-high right now.

Unsure if it's related to the collision with Trent Grisham in the prior San Antonio game last Sunday, but this brief tweet thread shows that video again and updates other potential injury news from that game.

With seven K's and no walks in this game, just-turned 20-year-old RHP Max Lazar has a 69-to-9 K-to-BB in 44.2 IP. Remarkable.

While not quite as gaudy stat-wise, 19-year-old RHP Justin Jarvis has a 1.16 WHIP in his 44 innings.

Box: Billings 6, Rocky Mountain 1

Alternative box includes inning-by-inning linescore

Now a 9-16 record, only 3-9 at home, lost most recent four games.

Not only did 21-year-old Dominican RHP Cristian Sierra strand three runners, he finished up with an additional three scoreless innings. 2019 is his first professional action after serving a PED suspension, but the Brewers had seen enough to have him bypass both the DSL and Maryvale.

Mustangs Take Game Two From Vibes Thursday Night
Micah Bello Homers in Tough Loss to Billings

The Billings Mustangs came out on top for the second night in a row over the Rocky Mountain Vibes, winning the Thursday night contest 6-1. The Vibes' one run came via a Micah Bello solo homer in the bottom of the third inning, marking a team-best fifth home run in 2019.

For the second night in a row, the Billings Mustangs scored first. Once again, they scored a sole run in the top of the second to go up 1-0, just as they did last night in game one of this series. In the top of the third, the Mustangs scored a sole run again to double their lead.

In the bottom half of the frame, Bello got the Vibes on the board with a team-leading fifth home run with no one on to make it 2-1. After hitting his first four homers in the first six games of the season, including a two-homer, five-RBI performance on June 16 in Orem against the Owlz, Bello went 17 games before adding on home run number five.

The Mustangs scored a sole run for the third inning in a row in the top of the fourth to make it 3-1, re-extending their lead over Rocky Mountain to two runs.

The fifth frame proved to be the first scoreless one since the first, with Billings going back to work in the top of the sixth. The Mustangs doubled their score with three more runs to go up 6-1 on the Vibes.

Thursday night turned out to be a tough one for the home team, as they collected just one run on four hits with two errors on the night, dropping their second straight game to the Mustangs.

Box, Regularly Scheduled Game: DSL Brewers 9, DSL Diamondbacks #2 Squad 5, seven innings

Cerveceritos were down 4-0 after three innings, quite the rally. They win despite issuing ten walks including five from RH starter Wellington Nunez.

This offense is more than passable as noted in CheeseheadInQC's comment above. The 5-6-7 spots with heavy damage here.

16-year-old 2B/3B Jesus Parra, who Toby was super-high on (I imagine still is) has found his 30-game introduction to pro ball a bit rough, but the .321 OBP works.

And That said:
Gold falls to 5-14, tied for the worst record in the AZL.

RHP Wilber Diaz, who was off-the-charts impressive statistically as a 17-year-old rookie DSL'er in 2018, was very ineffective in his first Maryvale Gold appearance back on June 18th (two hits, four walks in 1.1 innings) and hasn't pitched since. Bummer.
