Vibes Press Release:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Vibes 2019 All-Stars have been announced, as two Vibes players have been selected to play in the 2019 All-Star Game in Boise, Idaho. Outfielder Micah Bello and right-handed pitcher Karsen Lindell have been selected to the All-Star roster as reserves. The two will be amongst the Pioneer League team set to face off against All-Stars from the Northwest League on August 6 at Memorial Stadium in Boise, Idaho. - the home of the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League.

Bello will become the first position player in Vibes' team history to be selected to the All-Star Game. Bello is currently ranked the 18th prospect in the Brewers organization according to MLB Pipeline. The Hawaii native has played in 34 games this season with a .235 batting average and 22 runs scored. Bello leads the team in a few categories this season including home runs (6), slugging percentage (.496), OPS (.824), and triples (3). The 2019 selection will mark his first all-star game appearance at the professional level.

Lindell's selection makes him the first pitcher in Vibes' history to be named to the All-Star Game. The 24-year old from Tacoma, Washington was re-signed by the Brewers organization in June after being drafted by the Brewers in the 5th round of the 2015 MLB Draft. Lindell has posted a 4.11 ERA in 26 2/3 innings pitched this season, making 11 total appearances with one start. He holds a 1-0 record while striking out 40 batters and holding opponents to .188 batting average against.

Andrews continues to pitch well in AA, and hit too!

Also, good to see Shelby Miller do what he's supposed to be doing to rookie ball kids.

Dylan File is doing work this year. With two pitches that nearly break a foot its amazing he isn't walking guys.

And please Carlos Rodriquez.. please fill out your frame and add some power. The kid can just hit and hit and hit. RMV and he isn't 19 yet.

I’m less worried about Carlos filling out his frame - he’s a pretty slight guy - than I am about his early-career proclivity to not take walks. He has well above average bat to ball skill but he’s been swinging at everything so far from what I’ve seen of him.

Tuesday's rained out DSL Brewers/Indians game vs. the DSL Red Sox #2 Squad will be made up as part of a doubleheader on August 14th. Surely you were all waiting on that nugget.

***

Box (so far): DSL Indians 2, DSL Brewers/Indians 0, suspended by rain after four innings

No Brewer pitchers thus far. The three Brewers you see in the 2-3-4 spots have singled.

This game will be completed On August 16th.

Box (so far): DSL Phillies "White" Squad 5, DSL Brewers 5, suspended by lightning in the top of the 7th

Here's how they left in the top of the 7th -- stay safe, kids!

DSL Phillies White Top of the 7th

Pitching Change: Junior Montero replaces Joandris Tolentino.
Leandro Pineda walks.
Leandro Pineda steals (3) 2nd base.
Giuseppe Peguero walks.
Raymond Mora reaches on a fielder's choice, fielded by shortstop Alberis Ferrer. Leandro Pineda to 3rd. Giuseppe Peguero to 2nd.

This game is scheduled to resume on August 16th.

Rough starts by RHP Oscar Castaneda have been rare, but he surrendered five runs in five innings here.

Home run #5 for 16-year-old Toby favorite Jesus Parra, only 16 DSL players have more, and I didn't check how many, if any, have yet to turn 17.

17-year-old rookie second baseman Sebastian Burciaga is 3-for-3 already.

Final: AZL Indians Red 3, AZL Brewers Blue 2

AZL Brewers Blue Box Score

Not a whole lot of offense, again, but Orveo Saint his second pro home run in as many games. Andre Nnebe doubled and knocked in the other RBI. The Blues' two runs were no match for the Indians... three runs, though, and they fell to 3-4 in the second half.

All three Blue pitchers pitched pretty well, though Keegan McCarville did allow the go-ahead run on a homer in the 8th. McCarville, the Brewers' 36th rounder this past June, has some gaudy peripheral numbers and seems poised to bounce up a level or two before the summer is through.

This is a very valid concern, that I completely overlooked.

Mass Haas said:
Not only that, but the player page lists Luis Contreras as being assigned to the now-defunct Venezuelan Summer League as a Cubs farmhand in May 2015. Contreras would have just turned 19 years old at that time, which makes the note plausible, though it appears he never pitched there.

Now that he's with the Timber Rattlers, we'll ask Chris and Kyle to check in as to what happened during that four-year stretch. It's possible that's just an erroneous footnote by MiLB.

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: "In Wednesday's postgame podcast, Chris Mehring and Kyle Lobner recall the familiar refrain of an early deficit and a late comeback attempt that falls just short. They will also delve into a few of the deadline deals and some performances around the rest of the system. There is also an origin story on new Timber Rattlers reliever Luis Contreras. In the clubhouse comments, hear from Contreras, Matt Erickson, and Antonio Piñero."

Thanks guys, for following up so quickly!

Moving on, minus two standouts
Missions will need to adjust without Dubon, Grisham
By Jerry Briggs / San Antonio Missions

Fans cheered as Mauricio Dubon's name was announced in the first inning. But then he got hit by a pitch on his first at bat, nailed on the hand as a ball from Aaron Wilkerson sailed in on him.

In reaction, he smiled at Wilkerson and faked a move, as if he might charge the mound. But he took his base, and the game went on. Even though Dubon finished 0-for-3 at the plate, he took a hit away from Cory Spangenberg in the eighth with a diving catch of a flare in shallow left field.

"Before the game I was talking crap, telling Spangy I was going to steal a hit from him," Dubon said.

Never change, young man.
