Box: DSL Rays #2 Squad 3, DSL Brewers/Indians 1

Despite a now 13-39 record, there are rare Brewers bright spots on the co-op team.

18-year-old 2nd-year-pro Dominican RHP Leony Rosario has made strides over 2018's debut. Now, a 1.59 WHIP in eight starts is not to write home about, but Rosario did have a nice five-inning effort here. His season has been hardly of the poor variety, second on the team in innings pitched to more-effective fellow Brewer Yostin Villalobos (1.19 WHIP). Rosario was the only Brewer pitcher in this game.

Offensively, we were robbed of following 17-year-old SS Carlos Roa for the summer after June 19th.

Otherwise, yes, the team has struggled as the numbers show. We'll give the Gonzalez boys credit for their plus-.700 OPS'.

Hello again, 18-year-old 2nd-year-pro RHP Kleiber Bordones!

His last three starts -- 17 IP, 13 H, 0 ER, 5 BB, 18 K's. Love to see year-to-year growth.

Wow, talk about a jinx.

On Tuesday AM, 2.1 IP, 10 H, 8 R (all earned), 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR

Just not a lot to focus on the offensive side of things here, the Cerveceritos did manage to get plunked three times in addition to drawing three walks.

Another missing in action (last appearance July 3rd) -- RHP Daniel Acosta, unique peripherals in 2019.

Walters is a late add --

All-Star Status: Recently named all-star Karsen Lindell made a start Friday afternoon in the first game of the doubleheader and was brilliant. Lindell worked five innings of scoreless baseball, allowing four hits, and no walks with six strikeouts. Lindell along with Micah Bello and Nash Walters will be heading out to Boise, Idaho for the All-Star Game on August 6.

Here's where you can follow the Pioneer League vs. Northwest League All-Star Game in Boise via Gameday.

No MiLB.TV, but you'll find an audio link here.

8:30 PM Central start time.

Final: AZL Brewers Blue 3, AZL Cubs1 2

AZL Brewers Blue Box Score

Though the Cubs managed to tie the game in the top of the ninth and threaten to send the Blues into further heartbreak, the good guys prevailed with a walk-off and moved to 4-8 in the second half. Arbert Cipion hit his first pro home run, while Alex Hall knocked in two runs, including the game-winner. Nick Belzer, Keegan McCarville, and Jake Cousins combined to shut the Cubs out for the first eight innings of the game, though Cousins did allow the tying runs to score in the ninth.

Final: AZL Brewers Gold 12, AZL Royals 1

AZL Brewers Gold Box Score

Gold pitchers managed to scatter ten hits, the Gold offense unloaded on an unsuspecting Royals pitching staff, and now Pythagoras thinks the Gold team might not be too bad!

Daniel Castillo, the number two hitter in the lineup, lead the Gold's shower of offense with three hits, sprinkling in a double, two runs scored and two RBI. Matthew Mika and Oswel Leones chipped in two singles as well. Andres Melendez was on base three times with a single and two walks, and threw out the only runner who dared to try to steal. A scout told me that Melendez has looked fantastic defensively in the looks they've had this year.

Rehabbing Drake Owenby started and worked a scoreless inning. A quartet of Gold pitchers allowed only a single run in relief of Owenby.
