2017 25th round LHP Karlos Morales turns 20 years old today. He has seen limited time in 2019 in Maryvale, but has pitched as recently as Wednesday.

Rookie Dominican Summer League RHP Brailin Rodriguez has been toiling all summer as a 16-year-old, but the Dominican native turns 17 today.

I am not in the "send down/DFA someone and bring Freitas up" camp, but my goodness is he on a tear right now. 1.391 OPS for the month of August heading into tonight's game, and he's 2-3 with a HR so far.

September 1st can't come soon enough.

You almost have to just shut Burnes down at this point, no? That's just brutal to see.

I really hope he is hiding some type of non-major injury. Something is not right.

Looking at the gamecast for San Antonio, I'm guessing Padres fans are in the same boat with Ty France. My goodness, he's hitting .404 and OPSing over 1.250 with 26 homers in about as many ABs as Freitas. Looks like he had some time up earlier this year and didn't set the world on fire, and he's blocked by Machado and Hosmer.

Technically, you don't need the DFA part, not sure everyone realizes Freitas is on the 40-man roster. But you're also right in that if someone were to be dropped who does not have options left, a DFA would be necessary.

Brewers need a road doubleheader so that Freitas could at least be 26th man for a day.

Would love to hear the front office discussions about him, at least how 2020 factors in.

Thomas Jankins four scoreless innings in minor league baseball's least-friendly pitcher environment. Corbin Burnes, not so much.

Tyler Saladino on base four times, including a home run and double.

Worth the read for the Burnes and Freitas mentions...

BILLINGS — Saturday's game between the Billings Mustangs and Rocky Mountain Vibes at Dehler Park has been postponed because of thunderstorms, the Mustangs announced about 30 minutes before Saturday's scheduled first pitch.

The game will be made up on Sunday at Dehler as part of a doubleheader. The first of two seven-inning games is scheduled to begin at 1:05 PM (2:05 Central), and the second contest will start 30 minutes after the end of game one.

Biloxi Alumni Notes:

Cody Ponce three appearances thus far with AA Altoona (Eastern League), the most recent a three-inning start.

Three brief appearances for Marcos Diplan, now with the Shuckers' main rival, Pensacola.

Quad Cities Shuts Down Timber Rattlers
Wisconsin held to four hits and strikes out thirteen times in 8-0 loss
By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisely, a video highlight package was not available.

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: "In Saturday's Postgame Podcast, Chris Mehring and Kyle Lobner find a few bright spots: Thomas Dillard's on-base streak continues and hits 25, Pablo Abreu's return, and Kekai Rios pitching a scoreless inning of relief. There is an update on the playoff race after Clinton's Win and the Rattlers loss. Hear the clubhouse comments from Rios and Matt Erickson, too."

Box: DSL Rangers #1 Squad 15, DSL Brewers/Indians 3

First of all, deja vu, anyone?

The same two teams played to the same exact score the day before. First time in baseball history, Stats Inc.?

The island Rangers scored nine in the top of the 9th to make it 15-1, before the co-op kids plated two to make box score history. Rangers - 15 runs on nine hits.

Good news? The two Brewer pitchers each threw a scoreless inning, don't blame them.

RHP Starling Javier's inning was eventful three walks (33 free passes, three HBP's in 17.2 IP in '19), but he survived. 3.28 is a good ERA number, not a good WHIP figure.

Nothing of note offensively.

Looks like All-Star RHP Rafael Garcia is tiring as the summer moves along.

Shortstop Alberis Ferrer doubled and singled.

Schedule-maker ensures a Maryvale win on Saturday.

My goodness, 2nd round LHP Antoine Kelly has been fantastic.

RHP Braden Webb's rehab apperance:

AZL Brewers Blue Top of the 1st

Reidy Mercado grounds out, pitcher Braden Webb to first baseman Jesus Chirinos.
Jackie Urbaez flies out to center fielder Larry Ernesto.
Alex Hall hit by pitch.
Andre Nnebe walks. Alex Hall to 2nd.
Passed ball by catcher Andres Melendez. Alex Hall to 3rd. Andre Nnebe to 2nd.
Arbert Cipion walks.
Mound Visit.
Pitching Change: Santiago Elizondo replaces Braden Webb.
Danny Casals reaches on a fielder's choice, fielded by shortstop Daniel Castillo. Alex Hall scores. Andre Nnebe scores. Arbert Cipion to 2nd.
Luis Silva strikes out swinging.

***

Offensively, eight players reached base twice, despite what appears to be a bland offensive box score.

Freitas now 45 for 86 vs. LHP. That's hard to do hitting off a tee. Oh and he's slugging .880 vs. southpaws. .880!
