Abreu has to be the most unaccomplished prospect sent there by the Brewers since Alcides Escobar when he was an 18-year old A-ball kid. The Brewers must like him a lot

Mildly surprised about QCT only because a strong showing could put him at Rule 5 risk. Hopefully Abreu shows enough to earn a promotion to Carolina next season. Just from a logistical standpoint, you've got Rodriguez, Gray and Bello likely ticketed to Wisconsin next year (plus Holt if they move him back to the outfield), and Abreu, Ward and Howell too talented to give up on but fringy as far as promotion goes.

It would be interesting to know if Castaneda was one of the few who had enough innings left or if they really are just that high on him.

Regarding Andrews, does anyone know what kind of speed he has? I know when he plays the field, its CF. I guess I'm just dreaming about him as a LH reliever/elite pinch runner. What a fun combo that could be...

Totally agree. His potential value could take a hit with the 3 batter rule next year though. It would have been fun to pull the waxahatchie swap a few times with him.

David Fry, one of the prospects I rate highly (especially since he can play catcher) is also going. Ticketed for Biloxi next year?

Might be the team fully intends to put him on the 40 man roster. If so, that's not an issue. If he wasn't sent to the AFL, I'm guessing someone would take him in the Rule 5 draft. He is 25 in two weeks, and before the injury, he was showing he was close to being ready for the majors. Even with the injury, a left-handed specialist like him is a safer bet to contribute at the major league level than a lot of Rule 5 guys. The AFL time will help get him ready for the 2020 season.

Feliciano was recently promoted to AA so I would guess that Fry would open 2020 in Carolina. It’s probably in both of their best interests to get as much work behind the plate as they can to continue working on their craft instead of taking reps away from each of them by splitting the playing time.

Some #Brewers minor-league news: OF Tristen Lutz, C Payton Henry and LHP Nathan Kirby are all being held out of Arizona Fall League play due to injury.

Pablo Abreu, who is on the taxi squad, will take Lutz's spot. Brewers will need to decide on replacements for Henry and Kirby.

Tristen Lutz has a right triceps strain and Payton Henry a sprained left MCL. The good news is neither injury will require surgery.

Nathan Kirby, recovering from late April surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome, has a stress fracture in his second rib.

What's the point of sending injured players there? I assume they got hurt in the last couple of weeks, but I would think we could still send a replacement.

I think the Brewers had to declare the players much earlier than was announced. Remember, teams do a sort of bidding option where they get priority positions. The priority players are supposed to play most days (I think it was 4-5 out of 6 days per week). Remember when the Brewers declared SS their priority position? Hall and Hardy didn't end up playing, so they wound up sending a teenaged Escobar.

The Brewers likely hoped they could make it, but announced they were withdrawing at the last minute.

You seriously want to make judgements based on 4 2/3 innings?

I'm about 95 pct certain that as soon as the Brewers give up on Kirby, he's gonna end up in St. Louis and become an ace there.

It's good to hear it's just a rib injury and he was otherwise(presumably) ready or able to pitch however. Means he can take the off-season to build up some arm strength and maybe he has a Rasmussen type season next year for us.

Is Gatewood going to be a total bust for us? I had really high hopes for this kid, but he just can't put it together. (opinion not based on the 4 games listed above, duh!)

Brewers No. 29 prospect Bobby Wahl, who was acquired from the Mets in the Keon Broxton deal and missed the entire season with a torn ACL, has been added to the Glendale's roster.
