Greeting, we would like to invite everyone to take part in the 2020 Pre-Season BF.net Fan Community Top 25 Prospects voting.

Voting is now open. You need to submit on this thread your top 25 Brewer prospects. Feel free to list any resources or news that you feel might help people with their voting.

Voting concludes on March 18. You can change your votes at anytime through that date.

RULES

1. Submit your Top 25 prospects, in order, by end of day on March 18, 2020. Put the player's full name to avoid any confusion. I appreciate it you would number them. Also, please list your players from #1 to #25.
2. You MUST submit 25 prospects. If there are only 10 or 15 or whatever, your list will not be included.
3. You are encouraged to go beyond pick #25. This way if a player you vote for is released or traded, or you list someone twice, or whatever, we can just bump up your next player.
4. Rankings are determined by total points. The top prospect gets 25 points, second prospect gets 24 points, etc.
4. As noted above, if you submit your list and want to change something, just add the change to the thread via the edit function. I'll accept changes up to the deadline.
5. Within a week or so after the deadline, we'll publish the new BF.net Community Top 25.

Eligibility guidelines

Rookie eligibility is determined by the same standards as MLB:

“A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).”

- Players graduated from list: Trent Grisham (and then traded)
- Eligible players with ML experience: Aaron Wilkerson, Jacob Nottingham, Bobby Wahl, Devin Williams, Eric Yardley, Tyrone Taylor
- Ineligible players: Ray Black, Eric Lauer, Josh Lindblom, Ronny Rodriguez, Luis Urias

Players no longer in organization

- Trent Grisham (graduated and then traded)
- Nate Orf (free agent)
- Cam Roegner (released)
- Troy Stokes, Jr. (waived)
- Andres Melendez (traded)
- Nate Griep (waived)
- Adam Hill (traded)

We will add any other names here if someone is dealt or released or there is an error.

New players in organization to consider

- RP J.P. Feyereisen (acquired in trade with Yankees)
- RP Eric Yardley (acquired off waivers from Padres)
- IF MarK Mathias (acquired in trade with Cleveland)
- OF Hedbert Perez (International FA signed last summer)
- OF Luis Medina (International FA signed last summer)

We will add any other names here if someone is acquired.

Everyone, voting is open. Have fun.

Please let me know if there are any mistakes regarding players who have departed the organization or joined it.

Also, please refrain from criticizing others lists.

I WILL DELETE POSTS THAT ARE PURPOSELY ATTACKING ANOTHER POSTER'S SUBMISSION.

Ask questions. Offer suggestions. Don't be a jerk. This is for fun.

My list will be having a lot of shifts from the last one. I'm making some reconsiderations, and the number of folks who moved on (Stokes, Roegner, etc.)

I am also going to take the step and add their Baseball-Reference pages. About 80-85% of my evaluation comes from those. So, I'll just let you see what I'm seeing.

1. Drew Rasmussen, RHP (7 in last poll) - Could be a right-handed Hader, vintage 2017, for the Crew this year. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... smus000dre
2. Cooper Hummel, OF/? (16) - The only two hitters with higher wRC+ were Hiura and Grisham. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... mmel000coo
3. David Fry, C/IF/OF (4) - The bat has held, versatility a huge plus, did well in AFL. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... y---002dav
4. Dylan File, RHP (25) - Could be the starter to break out in Milwaukee from AAA. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... le--000dyl
5. Aaron Ashby, LHP (3) - Still a very impressive arm, but Suntisch beas him in some peripherals - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... hby-001aar
6. Mario Feliciano, C (8) - Huge breakout in 2019, but can he draw walks? - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... lici000mar
7. Scott Sunitsch, LHP (10) - Had a lower BB/9 ratio than Ashby, and matched Ashby in K/9. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... nits000sco
8. Weston Wilson, IF/OF (9) - Versatile and added drawing walks. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... lson001wes
9. Ethan Small, LHP (35) - Very good start, but only 7 games. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... all-000eth
10. Michael Mediavilla, LHP (unranked) - Maybe I take heat for this, but he has two seasons of sub-1.00 ERAs, and a career WHIP of 0.640. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... diav000mic
11. Clayton Andrews, LHP (20) - Looks like a poor man's Josh Hader. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... drew003cla
12. Alec Bettinger, RHP (12) - Could be a solid 3.50-4.00 ERA guy. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... ttin000ale
13. Noah Zavolas, RHP (13) - The Brewers got a right-handed version of Brent Suter in the Domingo Santana trade. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... vola000noa
14. Max Lazar, RHP (26) - Lazar could be an ace, but needs to make it higher up. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... zar-000max
15. Cam Devanney, SS (24) - Has power and OBP skills. Hit for decent average, too. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... vann000cam
16. Bryce Turang, SS (17) - Showed good OBP skills, but struggles at Carolina cause to worry. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... rang002bri
17. Thomas Dillard, OF/1B/C (36) - OBP skills in abundance, power... but low average. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... llar002tho
18. Jesus Parra, 3B (unranked) - Like Dillard, good OBP skills, power, but struggles to hit for average. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... rra-001jes
19. Quintin Torres-Costa, LHP (unranked) - Came back from Tommy John surgery for AFL. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... rres000qui
20. Ernesto Wilson Martinez, 1B (28) - Did okay in Rocky Mountain Vibe. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... rtin004ern
21. Trey Supak, RHP (1) - Stumbled badly in AAA. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... pak-000tre
22. Ryan Aguilar, OF/1B (18) - Added a hit tool to go with OBP skills, speed and pop. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... uila000rya
23. Luke Barker, RHP (unranked) - Didn't get shelled at San Antonio. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... rker000luk
24. Gabriel Garcia, UT (18) - Draw walks, has power, gets plunked, but can't hit for average. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... rcia005gab
25. Angel Perdomo, LHP (22) - The good: 14.16 K/9. The bad: K/BB ratio only 2.21. The ugly: 6.4 BB/9 - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... rdom000ang
26. Aaron Familia, 3B (unranked) - Some power, but outstanding OBP skills. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... mili000aar
27. Korry Howell, SS/OF (33) - Speed and OBP, also versatility. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... well000kor
28. Jon Olczak, RHP (29) - Had trouble in AAA, but many pitchers did. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... czak000jon
29. Zack Brown, RHP (11) - Got hammered bad. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... own-002zac
30. Thomas Jankins, RHP (unranked) - Didn't get killed at AAA, but not overpowering. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... nkin000tho
31. Anthony Bender, LHP (unranked) - Made a rapid rise, but need more than 36 innings. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... nder000ant
32. Corey Ray, OF (14) - Was 2018 the fluke? - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... y---000cor
33. Tyrone Taylor, OF (21) - Faces same question as Ray, and was kept over Stokes. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... ylor000tyr
34. Lucas Erceg, 3B (32) - Time is running out. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... ceg-000luc
35. Payton Henry, C (27) - Has better OBP skills than Feliciano, but could be odd catcher out, - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... nry-000pay
36. Francisco Gonzalez, IF (unranked) - Switch hitter, speed, doesn't strike out. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... nzal015fra
37. Oscar Castenada, RHP (unranked) - Could be an intriguing option if he can jump from DSL to Arizona. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... stan002osc
38. Alex Hall, C (37) - Clock is ticking on prospect from down under. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... ll--000ale
39. Jhonnys Cabrera, C (unranked) - There is an interesting bat, but a long way from DSL to MLB. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... brer000jho
40. Tristen Lutz, OF (38) - Not sure a .754 OPS last year will cut it. - https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... tz--000tri

I had him below my Top 25 in the last poll, but after an off-season of thinking, I jumped him up double figures. He's got ace potential, IMO, but I'd like to see it continue above full-season A.

A quarter of my Top 40 ballot was unranked from the last poll. In one case, the prospect jumped very high.

I'm including tiers for the heck of it

1. Ethan Small: 46.8% K-rate. Arguably as dominant as any starter in the minors, albeit with a very limited sample size
2. Brice Turang: Power questions are just enough to knock him to No. 2
----
3. Mario Feliciano: Power took nice step forward
4. Tristen Lutz: Seems forever poised for a breakout
5. Aaron Ashby: Solid but not spectacular first full season
6. Antoine Kelly: Long way to go, but so far, so good
7. Corey Ray: Lost season, but power, speed still there
8. Zack Brown: Needs confidence reboot. 40-man snub drops him a few spots
9. Drew Rasmussen: Can he start and can he stay healthy? If latter is yes, former might not matter much
10. Eduardo Garcia: Injury kept sample size too small to rank him higher than this
---
11. Carlos Rodriguez: Can put the bat on the ball. Now will the other offensive skills progress?
12. Payton Henry: Strikeouts need to fall, but there is enough to like to keep him above the great flattening out with the next tier
13. Max Lazar: Well, that season went well. Stat line pretty crazy
---
14. Bowden Francis: Rough first three starts after promotion masked otherwise great year. Led organization in strikeouts
15. Pablo Abreu: I know, this is a weird hill to die on.
16. Jacob Nottingham: Still on 40-man so Brewers believe in him. But Freitas is too, so they don't completely
17. Trey Supak: Probably needs to miss more bats
18. Devin Williams: Seems to have higher upside than list's other 40-man relievers
19. Dylan File: Great walk rate and passable strikeout rate
20. Alec Bettinger: Most seem to pitch well in Biloxi, but performance too good to keep him out of this tier
21. Joe Gray: Another lost season, but like with Ray, the upside is still there
22. Justin Jarvis: Only thing missing was the strikeouts. Hopefully second go-around at Wisconsin will change that
23. Jesus Parra: Young and pretty effective so far
24. Carlos Luna: Strong RM showing positions him to be this year's Lazar
25. Jhonnys Cabrera: Lack of discussion a red flag, but he was DSL team's top offensive newcomer for most of season
26. Lucas Erceg: Spring training invite shows optimism at least
27. Micah Bello: Tailed off a bit after strong start
---
28. Luis Medina: In general I wait until DSL guys have played to put them in top 25, so I stuck him atop this tier
29. Hedbert Perez: See Luis Medina
30. David Fry: AFL work great, but still probably has to stick at catcher
31. Clayton Andrews: Fast-moving reliever, but feels a bit behind Rasmussen and Williams on upside
32. J.P. Feyereisen: Will almost certainly get big league shot at some point this year
33. Reese Olson: Brewers showed enough faith in him to make me think second Wisconsin season will be better
34. Mark Mathias: I raised him up 10-15 spots because team traded viable catching prospect and gave him a 40-man spot. Feels like a younger Nate Orf
35. Felix Valerio: Just keep hitting
36. Nash Walters: Healthy and pitched just well enough to inspire some renewed optimism
37. Angel Perdomo: Like the upside but seems a bit rawer than the other 40-man relief options
38. Eduarqui Fernandez: Can the contact match the power?
39. Phil Bickford: He dominated but at a level he should no longer be at
40. Bobby Wahl: It seems likely this will look 20 spots too high or too low in a few months
41. Karsen Lindell: His comeback produced a lot of Ks and, after two awful outings to start the year, very few base runners
---
42. Tyrone Taylor: Is he more than a fifth outfielder
43. Thomas Jankins: Quietly has had success
44. Luke Barker: Lack of a big league camp invite dropped him
45. Korry Howell: Did just enough to not seem overmatched and has upside
46. Je'Von Ward: See Korry Howell
47. Cooper Hummel: Still question the upside, but he flat out produced at Biloxi
48. Caden Lemons: Is he healthy? Did the work he put in before the injury produce improvements?
49. Eric Yardley: Seems to have little upside but could be a passable seventh or eighth pen arm
50. Quintin Torres-Costa: Might have to prove himself again after injury
51. Thomas Dillard
52. Nick Bennett
53. Miguel Sanchez
54. Noah Zavalos
55. Braden Webb
56. Nick Kahle
57. David Hamilton
58. Gabe Holt

Nope, I'm not buying a guy who's sitting upper 80s can get hitters out at the higher levels. Hopefully he can, but I value stuff/tools more highly than results when I make these lists. I'll also admit I haven't been as closely monitoring our minor leaguers the last year or two.

Stuff and tools are things to keep in mind... but results count, too.

I don't know much about Michael Mediavilla's stuff or his tools. But the results in 2018 and 2019, even with him missing a lot of the latter season, are impossible to ignore, and I'm rocketing him way up my list. You can see for yourself - I put his BR page (and for all my picks) on the ballot.

The same for Lazar. What he showed last year was huge. If he keeps it up this year, he's top 5 in the mid-season poll.

I'll do the tiers as well...

Tier 1 - Potentional Top 100 in near future

1. Ethan Small: Could be a front end MLB starter. I'm putting him here based on potential. With a big year he is a BA top 50.
2. Brice Turang: Really hope his body develops. Talent is there. With a big year he could be a BA top 100.
3. Drew Rasmussen: If he stays healthy we have a quality back end reliever. Throws gas.
4. Mario Feliciano: Huge year for Mario. A nice year at AA may land him on the BA Top 100. But he is a catcher, so we must be patient.

----

Tier 2 - Guys Who Could Quickly Move Into Tier 1 with a big 2020

5. Dylan File: "Misses bats and pounds the zone as often as a consensus Top-50 prospect." - Scout
6. Zack Brown: I'm not giving up on Zach. Has had success at AA.
7. Corey Ray: Talent is there, needs to get on base more and K less. 2020 is gigantic for him.
8. Aaron Ashby: Not sure what to think here. I'm higher on him than most.
9. Eduardo Garcia: Big potential.

----

Tier 3 - Intriguing players

10. Tristen Lutz: I've watched him in person. Never been impressed.
11. Antoine Kelly: Potential.
12. Payton Henry: Never been impressed.
13. Max Lazar: Low ceiling. Suter part 2?
14. Phil Bickford: High ceiling. Looked good in spring training.
15. Bobby Wahl: Big league reliever.
16. Chad Spanberger: Big power. Will the OBP develop?
17. Eric Yardley: Probably a low ceiling. But could be an MLB reliever.

----

Tier 4 - Just guys to watch

18. Devin Williams: Could be an MLB reliever.
19. Lucas Erceg: Big power. Time to put it all together is now or never.
20. Jacob Nottingham: The star has faded and is getting very dim.
21. Trey Supak: Low ceiling. Aaron Wilkerson part II.
22. Bowden Francis
23. Alec Bettinger:
24. Joe Gray: A
25. Justin Jarvis:
26. Jesus Parra:
27. Carlos Luna:
28. Jhonnys Cabrera:
29. Micah Bello:

1.ESmall--SEC dominant and has a pathway to the bigs
2.DRassmussen--boom or bust but the boom could be big and really soon
3.Feliciano--looking forward to 7 years of catching under control
4.Turang--good looking kid, could be drafted over/traded over soon
5.AKelly--boom or bust but not really soon
6.Lazar--youngest of the “Dudes” or righty starters that don’t light up the radar gun but move up the system with some decent stats/peripherals
7.Alec Bett--a dude, Ross Stripling MLB comparison would be nice.
8.AAshby--interesting player based on name, position of need, and stuff
9.BWahl--man among boys especially when you look at all the RMV teens.
10.EGarcia--projectable
11.Sunitch- lhp with nice WHIP
12.DFile--Dude.
13.CAndrews--I like him as a LHP that has great numbers. Competitor and I want him to do well.
14.Kahle--young catcher highly drafted and has some room to jump up the system.
15.Hummel--continues to thump.
16.BFrancis--Dude.
17.Zavolas--Dude.
18.Carlos Rodriguez--decent year and that is rare amongst our int’l teens.
19.Zhao--a rare long play for me based on spin rate
20.Devin Williams-talent but not a real prospect anymore. He is what he is but that could be decent…the dividing line in my mind. Everyone below has a flaw, is losing their star luster, or unproven to a point of being a lottery ticket. Above are the ones that have a chance to be as good as Devin could have been out of St Louis getting drafted with the top pick all those years ago.
21.JP Feyereisen- has some stuff but can he make a splash AND stay around the 26 man roster. Came a little too easily to us; I want to see the catch.
22.JJarvis--too young to know but size and comes from good baseball area in NC
23.NBennett - upside lefty that is 22 and poised to jump quickly
24.QTC--personal fav but has to rebound from injury
25.PHenry--holes in game but position of need; could be the Brady Quinn of mlb catchers
