Alright moving this over to a new thread for 2021.

## Currently on the 60-day Injured List

[BCRP] Currently on the Bereavement/COVID/Restricted/Paternity List

- Player has already burned option for current year

* Player has at least 5 years service time and cannot be optioned without their consent (or player has signed an extension or free agent contract and likely has a clause not allowing a minor league option without player consent)

** Some players are eligible for a 4th option year if they spend an entire option year injured or have burned all 3 options in their first 5 pro years. A 4th option year burns the year it is given even if the player spends the entire year on the Major League roster.

Technically, most of this thread isn't true yet. We've got plenty of time to add Cain back to the restricted list if he doesn't play next year.

FWIW, they are now all on the 40-man.

Omar Narvaez, Luke Maile, and Orlando Arcia all have over 4 years of service time heading into the 2021 season.

Once they reach 172 days on their 5th year of service time, they can no longer be optioned without their consent. All 3 have options remaining so this case is relevant for all of them.

Details:

Maile: 4 years, 99 days (needs 73 more days, 6/12/21 assuming he is on the roster from the start of the season)
Narvaez: 4 years, 89 days (needs 83 more days, 6/22/21 assuming he is on the roster from the start of the season)
Arcia: 4 years, 47 days (needs 125 more days, 8/3/21 assuming he is on the roster from the start of the season)

Options and IL have been set for the beginning of the season. All optioned players will burn an option if they stay down through April 20th.

There are a bunch of people set to burn options today, but they haven't spent 20 days optioned until midnight tonight (or, really, after the game starts tonight).

I'll either update the thread tonight or tomorrow, but if someone gets recalled today, then I don't believe they've burned an option yet.

The following players have burned their options for 2021:

Alec Bettinger
Phil Bickford
Dylan File
Eric Lauer
Chad Sobotka
Patrick Weigel
Mario Feliciano
Luke Maile
Corey Ray

Sobotka/Weigel/Maile will be out of options for the 2022 season (although I think Weigel might get a 4th option so we'll see on that).

Jordan Zimmermann joins the 40-man roster, he has 2 options remaining but is well over service time requirements to refuse optional assignment.

It seems like our 1B situation is living and will continue to live below replacement level. Does Zach Green still have a minor league option?

Green burned his 1st option in 2019, but he was outrighted after the season and elected free agency, and has only signed minor league deals since, so he still has 2 Minor League options intact if the Brewers were to add him to the 40-man.

Omar Narvaez has reached 5 years of service time, and would need to approve any option to the minors (not expecting this to be much of an issue).

I'll be honest, I don't know how many options Gustave has left. I think it's 1 but it could be 0.

he burned an option in 2020 while on optional assignment.

in 2019, he was on optional assignment, but only from 18 - 31 july, so no optioned burned.

in 2016, he burned an option.

he has one option remaining.
