Wow, a power lefty who pitches 95-97 with good control, and ace-like stats in AA this season. According to the brewerfan scouting report, Parra also throws cutters, curve and change, does anyone know how good are his pitches?

Agree, Parra's an exciting prospect, hope his past injuries are far behind him. like Inman, could we also have a Parra Tracker in the IGT? just a suggestion.

Mark McCarter of the Huntsville Times reports that RHP Will Inman has been promoted to the Stars.

Does this mean Will will not start the Florida State League All-Star Game this weekend?

If not, Will would likely make his Huntsville debut on Monday. If Huntsville and Tennessee are tied at the end of this weekend (a real possibility), then an Inman debut on Monday would be for the division crown and a playoff berth.

It also sets up the possibility of a Nuclear Monday, with the chances of Yovani Gallardo debuting in Milwaukee, Manny Parra debuting in Nashville, and Inman starting the Stars' porion of his career all on the same day.

Brewerfan.net might explode if that happens.

As is the case every year, once it's determined who will be joining the helena and Arizona rosters, the Brewers analyze things, determine what holes still need to be filled, and acquire non-drafted free agents.

Czimskey Signs with Milwaukee Brewers
Senior catcher reports Friday to Arizona League

WACO, Texas -- Baylor senior catcher Matt Czimskey signed a free agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, the National League Club announced Thursday. Czimskey will report Friday to the franchise's Arizona League team in Phoenix, Ariz.

A product of Waco's Midway High School, Czimskey spent two seasons at Baylor after a two-year career at San Jacinto Junior College in Houston. Czimskey managed only 25 at bats in his first season at Baylor (2006), playing behind Johnny Bench Award semifinalist Zach Dillon.

However, Czimskey blossomed in the second half of his senior season, hitting .362 with nine home runs, 37 RBI and 11 doubles in just 44 games. In Big 12 Conference games, Czimskey hit a league-best .386 with five home runs, 21 RBI and nine doubles in 21 games. Eight of his nine home runs came against Big 12 teams, including three at the Big 12 Championship where he earned all-tournament honors.

Czimskey continues Baylor's lineage of catchers who have signed professional contracts following their Baylor careers: Chad Polk (1998, Toronto Blue Jays), Bryan Loeb (2000, Arizona Diamondbacks), Kelly Shoppach (2001, Boston Red Sox), Paul Richmond (2002, Toronto Blue Jays), Josh Ford (2005, Arizona Diamondbacks) and Zach Dillon (2006, Baltimore Orioles).

UPDATE: Well, look to Friday's Link Report for the Will Inman "Where is he now?" update.

Will's going to save those All-Star appearances for the big leagues ;) .

Wow... I wonder if there has ever been a day like that since the inception of BF.net. That's almost worthy of a day off work if you can get it.

EDIT: Guess Inman is pitching tonight... maybe that makes Monday only worth half a day off. :)

I don't think I recall a set of simultaneous promotions that excited me as much as those from last night. All three pitchers deserve it. Can't wait to see how they respond.

It just hit me, we had a legit stud pitching prospect at every level before the promotions:

AAA - Yo
AA - Parra
A+ - Inman
A - Braddock, Jeffress

In the ultra rare event that all the pitchers make the bigs and succeed how sweet would that rotation look? Yo, Parra, Inman, Braddock, Jeffress. Substitute Villy for anyone below Yo! on that list and I still get a little misty thinking about the possibilities.

Not sure how long you've been following the minors Crew, but back when Parra, Sarfate, Eveland, etc were at Beloit I thought the Brewers would have the best rotation in baseball come 2007. Didn't exactly turn out that way. A lot can happen between A ball and the majors so I wouldn't get my hopes up too much (doesn't hurt to hope though....I still do)

Ohh no doubt, but there were always concerns about Eveland's weight if I remember right. At any rate, if Inman succeeds in AA and goes injury free next year that puts Yo with the big club, maybe Parra as well, and Inman AAA. This is a pretty exciting time to be Brewer fan.

Not to mention Rogers could still come back and be productive, if nothing else if he keeps his velocity maybe a bull pen role like setup or closer. For that matter I still refuse to give up on Jones, though it's looks pretty unlikely he'll be a major league pitcher for the crew at this point.

i was toolin around milb.com and saw that mike mcclendon started his career last year at helena. (which is a rookie league right?) his stats were nothin great last year. he did, though, start the year off this year with the power. his numbers looked pretty good.

62.2 IP (5-2) 2.87 ERA

web.minorleaguebaseball.c...pid=501873

he is now pitching at BC. i have a few "why?'s"

-WHY did he start the year @ WV in the first place?
-WHY, after his nice start, did he get demoted.

I feel like I am missin somethin simple here.

On an offnote, how do i put that long link into a hotlink?

West Virginia is the low-A affiliate, so he went from rookie league to low-A as is the expected course. He was then recently promoted to Brevard County, which is the high-A (or A+) affiliate in the Florida State League.

Charleston Gazette:

The Power demoted right-handed pitcher Roque Mercedes to Helena of the rookie Pioneer League Friday, and right-handed pitcher Chris Toneguzzi has been called up from extended spring training to take Mercedes? place on the roster. Mercedes was 0-4 with a 7.36 ERA in 12 appearances with the Power, including eight starts.

That's OK for Mercedes. He's only 20, and the time in WV, while not impressive stat-wise, has to help in his personal growth. He had a passable 18 walks in 40 innings, but he did not miss alot of bats(opponents hit .313). If he's even average at Helena it should be encouraging, but I suspect he's going to do quite well.

Infielder Brad Miller, 21, has joined the Power from extended spring training. He hit .200 in 185 AB's for Helena last year.

OF Anthony Wycklendt moves to Helena. He was 0-for-6 with a walk in his brief stay with the Power.

I'd been expecting this for Mercedes. He wasn't good, but he had some good moments. Hopefully he takes himself to Helena and thrives.

Congratulations to shortstop Alcides Escobar, newest member of the Huntsville Stars.

No word yet on corresponding roster moves (does Yohannis Perez drop to Brevard County -- that'd seem logical). You'll know when we know.

Only 35 K's in 268 AB's for Alcides (then again, only seven walks):
