With all this talk about Davies win total, I wonder if he will get some Cy Young votes, something we struggle with as a franchise.

Can you name the only 4 Brewers who have ever received a single NL Cy Young vote?

Vuke.
Fingers
CC
Sheeters?

NL only, so Fingers and Vuke dont count. CC and Sheets are correct.

CC placed highest in Brewer NL Cy Young history, 5th place.

Villar has had a great August. Better think long and hard before deciding to give up on him.

Villar will and should be our second basemen next season. Walker is still a nice addition but there's just too much potential with Villar to go in another direction.

Well, Stearns was asked about it the other day and sounded like it could go either way.

This was my issue with the Walker signing. I didn't want to see Villar rotting away on the bench right as things were finally clicking for him . Which is exactly what was happening up until a day or two ago.

replace D'Amico with Gallardo and we have it.

Our NL Cy Young leaderboard:
2008 5th Sabathia
2011 7th Gallardo
2004 8th Sheets
2011 9th Axford

Thats it

This is typical Dusty. Keeping a pitcher in when there's absolutely no reason for it

Do you think Mark Prior has flashbacks every time he watches Dusty Baker manage a game? Gio just out there tossing to 115 with the Nationals basically a guarantee for the playoffs. Guess they're just stretching him out.

What's the over/under for Scherzer in his 2nd start back? 105?

Good trivia Topper. Thought d'amico might have gotten a vote or two that season he was in the top couple pitcher in ERA (2000?)

Another great start from Davies. So fun to watch him pitch when he is dealing like his.

Just curious but when was the last home run by Braun? Seems like a long time ago.

It's too bad the Cubs have such a weak freaking schedule. Makes it almost impossible to make up any ground on them. At least we can pick up another half game on Colorado with a win.

2000 was his year, 3rd in the NL in ERA. He won a pitcher of the month award in August. I remember Vasgersian calling him "Big Daddy" but that isn't one of his official nicknames on bb-ref.

His 5.0 bb-ref WAR that year is our second best pitching mark in our NL days, only behind Sheets 7.2 WAR from 2004

I am not too concerned about this. Villar has been bad all season long and earned a spot on the bench. However, Counsel manages with this "position player core" or whatever its called and everyone gets playing time. If Villar performs and proves that he is once again worthy of starting, they will find ways to get him into the lineup. If not, then Walker seems to be a much better alternative for the remainder of this season.

I'm not sure. 13 HR at the end of August is a pretty underwhelming number for him.

He's still a good player. He's just no longer a great one. We just need him to be 'good' for 3 more years while hopefully staying relatively healthy.

This was asked recently and i think the last time was the reds series before the road trip and then 1 in each of the phillies series after the break. So few and far between.
