Hm. Lineup changes don't make all that much difference, but I thought it was pretty well-established that #3 should not be your best hitter, especially if that hitter has a great OBP (#1 is where that's most important) and isn't really a slugger anyway. Combine that with Cain's speed, and I see no reason he should not be leading off.

Maybe wanted to avoid three lefties in a row 2-4.

Yelich
Cain
Shaw
Santana
Choi
Villar
Pina
Arcia

Would’ve made more sense.

I think Counsell has said in the past Shaw is the cleanup hitter and he has given no indication that his view has changed. When Shaw starts it will be cleanup.

Who cares??

(Nothing against you; just like seeing younger players get those ab's.)

Maybe this doesn’t matter either, but it seems a little strange having Cain hit behind a much slower player that is likely to get on-base. I would have been more on board with placing Ji-Man Choi in the #3 spot.

How many walks have we issued to the .200 hitting Goldschmidt in the past week? Three? Four?

So we know when to brace ourselves.

I would have just put Domingo 3.

Random observation here, Eric Thames suffered his thumb injury 4 weeks ago today. I believe he had the surgery later in that week, so I assume he isn’t quite to the 4 week mark in terms of recovery time just yet, but it is nice to know he is likely past the half way point toward his return.

I mean thanks ump but holy crap that slider was way outside, and the first strike wasn't great either.
