Remember when Braun used his head? Yah...those were the days. This marks the third time I can recall this year where Braun made a mental mistake absolutely no one should make. Two throws to the wrong base that gave up runs and now that sad attempt to go to third.

Mind you....I have not watched most games this year...

Hiura's bat is quick as hell but he really needs to lay off the high fastballs with that leg kick.

Kudoz to Gamel for at swinging at strikes.

I absolutely hate that high front leg lift.
Leaves you extremely vulnerable to speed change.

Reminds me way too much of Brett Phillips and Lewis Brinson.

Hirua is making it pretty easy to send him back for some seasoning.

Hiura swung at that fastball as it was in the mitt. That was about as predictable AB as you get; breaking balls then high fastball.

He either needs to stop swinging at that pitch or lessen the leg kick. Period. He can't hit FBs above the strike zone.

Hole in swing.

And don't get why so many of our minor league guys come up with that exaggerated front leg lift.

Arcia has it to a degree Phillips had it Brinson had it to a degree.
You get away with it in the minors because most of the throwers down there are 90% fastball. When you get to the bigs most decent pictures can control speed and location.

What's more frustrating the Hirua leg kick or the Weeks waggle?

Not sure but I won't go as far as Brinson and Phillips. Hiura's contact tool is way better than both of them. He's holding himself back though.

Umm...the leg kick. The waggle was a great timing tool. That leg kick is a timing tool for bar league softball.

Weeks had little leg kick and used his bat speed to his advantage. It was pretty impressive the power he got out of that.

The thing that really drives me nuts is it it wasn't addressed in the minors. There's a reason almost nobody in the big leagues lifts their front foot more than a few inches off the ground.

I will have to watch again, but I looked up video from his college days and it seemed way less pronounced and high.

I don’t get it.

Honestly Woodruff has some of the best hitting mechanics on the team.

Why is Woodruff our best pinch hitter.

Can Woody play first or right? Maybe take two turns in the rotation as well? He's kind of good at baseball.

Are we really comparing Hiura to one of our biggest busts ever in weeks? Can we wait a bit...?

I like seeing more offspeed from Peralta.
He has to become a pitcher rather than a thrower for long term success.

You said...from the Keston thread...
"At what point do we send Hiura down and bring Dubon up? Three games is three games!"

Are you trying to be a professional counter-point or are you just bi-polar?

They have multiple comparable attributes. Care to disagree? Didn’t say he was going to be Rickie Weeks. No need to jump to conclusions

And hard to call Weeks a bust. He was an above average player who without injuries likely would have been a multi AS player and one of the better 2Bs of his short peak. Prospects flame out at crazy high levels. Many guys, even in the Top 5, manage nothingburger careers.
