Yelich doesn't usually take that pitch...especially with 2 guys on base in a 4 run game...

It was 100% Super 2 protection

Hiura just homered again. He has 24 (!!) this year.

I hate that he's not up and I think it's a mistake they continue to compound. Yes, pitching has been the main culprit in June but I do think the Hiura demotion has hurt us. Winning games 9-8 counts just the same as winning 3-2.

I completely agree, and the come from behind win after Hiura’s game tying HR in Pittsburgh against Vasquez is a great example of one the Brewers likely lose without Hiura on the roster. It’s impossible to know if outcomes would have been different, but it’s hard to imagine the bat wouldn’t have helped ignite some big innings over the past few weeks.

I know this is going to sound crazy and the odds are probably less than 2%, but with each day that goes by without Hiura on the roster the thought has slowly creeped into my mind that it may not be Super 2 protection or defensive development holding him down. It is starting to feel like there is at least a very small chance they plan to entertain trading Hiura for a big splash such starting pitcher under team control for a few years (i.e. Noah Syndergaard). Again, not likely at all, but seemingly slightly more conceivable than if he was on this big league roster right now.

If the idea was to move him he is more valuable now than at any other time before. The dude has stud written all over him at this point. The reality is they were trying to save some cash and it's bite them in rear. It's why nothing about this has made sense since he got shipped out.

Yelich is showing signs of going into his first slump in almost a year.

This has been a less than inspiring performance from JimmyN.

Well in better news the Cubs lost at Wrigley to the Braves and the Cardinals are also down 7-3 in the 8th inning at home against the A’s.

Hard to watch Jimmy out there.

If you are going to be on the team you have to be able to suck up innings in situations like this.......just can't command anything.

The fact he is going to take up a bullpen spot to likely serve in a mop up duty only role for the foreseeable future isn’t a great situation for either him or the team at this point.

Man watching Jimmy is sad. Give him credit for fighting back but he is a shell of himself. He shouldn't be in the bigs right now. Selfish of him not to go down even though I get it. Tough situation.

BA droning on-and-on about his situation wasn't helping either...then the double play! So, 2 IP, 4BB, 2H, and miraculously 0 Rs for Jimmy tonight.

It's going to be painful being forced to carry a 4 million dollar mop up man on the 25 for the rest of the season in addition to the existing unoptionable dead weight on the roster because we didn't have the foresight to option him back down while there was still a lot of doubt about his recovery.

Especially when we could have likely signed Miley for that $4 million.

Really smart play by Perez to make it back to first.

My guess is that they did and he said no, as Stearns admitted it was "discussed". I don't think they're going to come out and flat out tell us that he refused.

But agreed, it's not on Nelson. That's his right. It's on the organization for giving him that right when they could have avoided it easily.

It won't go very appreciated in a 7-3 game, but that was an unbelievable catch by Gamel.

Bill makes it sound like that was an obvious catch when it took 5 seconds for the umps to make a call and he didn't know either. God he's dumb.

Ben Gamel with two nearly identical diving catches tonight. Really nice effort on both of them.

Having a serviceable CF replacement for Cain is sort of an underrated aspect of Gamel’s importance to the team.
