This series is a must-win, until we go 1-2 and the Cardinals get swept and we continue the NLC season of mediocrity in which the must-win situations perpetually get kicked into next week because everyone sucks.

By my count Brewers are facing two lefties to start the series and have to start some combination of Grisham Shaw Thames Moose and Gamel. There is no way around it with Saladino and Jesus gone. The horrible roster management continues. It will be difficult to win this series when you basically are helpless against left handed pitching.

Since being traded to Chicago I feel like Quintana has pitched against us 36 times.

Close, it's actually 136 times.

OPS vs RHP: .774
OPS vs LHP: .766

I guess we are basically hopeless against everyone.

does anyone know what our record is against lefties and righties.

Ive noticed a lot of people have complained a lot about us facing lefties but just from the top of my head it doesn't seem to be that big of a deal this year.

At some point this needs to happen. We need to reel off 4-5 wins in a row

It will be one tall task to sweep but we need to take the series for sure.

17-16 vs LH starter
40-37 vs RH starter

Like most things people complain about, it isn't that big of a deal.

I see Grisham has a negative WAR after yesterday.

Send him down

If you mean boring and mediocre. Yes. I agree.

If the complaint is that after the loss of two right hand bats the offense now sucks, stats from before the bats were lost don't really prove anything. Those may be exactly the same forward, but right now don't seem relevant.

If that is the complaint, it is flawed to begin with.

Aguilar had a 63 wRC+ against LHP this year, should be easily replaced.

& I guess I'm missing the 2nd right handed bat we lost. (EDIT, oh I see it now, Saladino, he of the 6 wRC+ vs LHP.)

The only lefty on bulldogboys list in the lineup tonight is Moose & he has a 119 wRC+ vs LHP this year.

If we're using samples as small as 20 at bats anything can be "proven". If anything, you are highlighting another poor roster choice, not putting on a defense of it.
Perez's spot is now filled by Shaw. Aguilar's spot is filled by a lefty outfielder. Do either of these guys project to ultimately do better vs lefties? I didn't realize protections going forward were based off so few at bats.

Hiura hitting 3 is a positive step in the right direction. Hopefully Arcia found something in Oakland.

Thank you sir. You made my point much better than I did. All I was saying is the roster is a mess as it's been all year. A lefty starting just brings it into focus.
