OMG, that is Braun's ball all the way. Shoddy.

That might have been the most ridiculous play of the game today, which is saying something. Braun just gave up on the ball 25 feet from where it landed to let Moustakas try to twist around and catch it.

Cards' fans wear jorts.

Brewers are -22 in run differential

The NL Central is real weird if you are a run differential follower.

How does 3rd baseman cover more ground and get to that before Braun.

Bottom line, it wasn't as tough of a play as either of them made it look.

Agree, but would still like the Brewers to be that team, because why not

The weird part is go back and rewind to the HR. That pitch hit exactly where Pina put the glove. He maybe moved his glove down 2 inches to catch it, but essentially that is where he set the target. To say it missed by 5 feet is totally off. You don’t put the target somewhere you don’t want the pitch.

If that's the case ... that's horrible pitch selection. That is the one spot where Gonzalez's power is as a RH batter.

I would love to know if the pitch selection comes from the dugout.

It blows my mind that MLB umpires are so bad at their job that they cannot tell that a strike is a strike if a catcher has to reach for it.

I would too, especially because they rarely make the playoffs, but I have low hopes given how bad their pitching is.

Looking forward to it, he's done a heck of a job with Corbin Burnes.

Hard to tell with the camera angles they showed. Pretty dang athletic play for a catcher playing 1B.

If Hader throws Gonzalez a slider that first pitch not only doesn't he hit it but the whole ab is different. Coaches matter. I think this group hasn't done a good job this year.

Great post. Very much agree. Counsell should shoulder A ton of blame for this season.

Why can't the Brewers get a RP that comes in and just throws strikes like this?

Hader 0328-0412: 9 IP, 0 ER
Hader 0415-0430: 5.2 IP, 6 ER
Hader 0503-0726: 36 IP, 6 ER
Hader 0730-0816: 5 IP, 6 ER

Josh had a rough patch similar to his current one early in the season & bounced back just fine.

Some all time classic IGT overreactions here.

Has Hader been terrible for his last 5 IP? Clearly.

Does that mean the league figured him out, he will never recover & we should gave traded him at the deadline? Hardly.

He is throwing BP out there man. This is not about the ER.

Right. He's been throwing BP for 5 innings.

What I'm saying is his true talent level & likely future results will be much more in line with the first 179 innings of his career.
