Has Counsell still not realized that this is not last year's bullpen? This again started with pulling the SP early and asking the bullpen to complete 4 innings, when it's a miracle to get even 1 clean inning from this bullpen.

And going with Williams over Hader in the 9th when Hader has barely pitched lately is just unexplainable.

I would not be surprised if Counsell decides to go somewhere else next year if Stearns doesn't want to address the pitching this off season. We know Counsell isn't Stearns hire and although they seem to get along fine we don't know whose idea this past off season was. Counsell is so punch drunk from this bullpen he has to demand resources be spent. if Stearns says lets go cheap with young guys and doesn't get real help ask to be set free. The guy would have a job the next day.

Where would Counsell go? Nobody else is likely to offer him a manager’s job and I don’t see him leaving to take a coaching job. I think it’s more likely that he would be fired than leave voluntarily, and I doubt if he will be fired.

Literally every team that will have a manager opening will want Counsel.

Whatever, denigrate however you want. You said they had no value and yet a team that holds themselves out as a contender went out days later and traded for two guys with ERAs over 5.00.

Just own it, it’s fine nobody’s 100% right all the time. It’s okay

[laughing] [laughing] [laughing]

Man talk about spin. I guess by that logic, every 5+ ERA pitcher has trade value. I literally said in that thread that Chacin could probably end up being unclaimed if waived, that thing literally ended up happening, and you still sit here completely unwilling to admit you're wrong, all the while the other guy you said had value is getting shelled. While the Brewers giving up little for a couple garbage pitchers that have absolutely nothing to do with Chacin or Albers somehow proves your point. [laughing] [laughing] [laughing]

Hilarious stuff, man. Get a clue.

The difference being Chacin now has an injury and it’s up in the air if he’ll be able to pitch again this year, clearly a different situation then when you were blowing steam about him being worthless. Pick something less asinine to go down with the ship on. It was fun to pants you the first time it’s less fun each subsequent time

It's going to be a long offseason for this team trying to figure out what went wrong this year.

Unfortunately they don't really seem to be headed on an upward trajectory for next year either.

Their young starters they banked on moving forward with got hurt or were terrible. It's not that mysterious. Knebel didn't help, and Travis Shaw, God knows what his 2020 looks like.

IMO fixing Corbin Burnes should be priority one. Too much talent there from a guy who looked great against MLB hitters and suddenly playing beer league soft toss. Something is wrong there and I hope it's merely physical.

Wonder if Brew crew 92 will have any thoughts on Williams for us or if he will just find another pitcher in our minor leagues to tell us about how great they are and how stupid Stearns is for not bringing them up and how if they were up we would be in the playoffs, rinse-repeat........... own something around here, just once.

I really thought after the multiple aces proclamation and the "just wait til Williams....Black....Nelson....Suter....Rasmussen gets here" haven't amounted to anything at this level, he would have cooled it. But no, that hype train just keeps picking up steam.

Williams has a great fastball and changeup, just needs a third pitch. He'll get there, I'm not down on him!

Chacin had a -0.1 trade value prior to his injury, which was the same as Albers. The only one who hasn't got a clue how things work is obviously yourself. There's nothing wrong with being wrong, but at least some people have enough self-awareness to admit it. You won't have to worry about getting pantsed any longer as you're going on the block list, your posts offer zero substance whatsoever. Bye now!

Unfortunately, it's looking like the postmortems of 2019 will include deciding which other previous season it most resembled, 2009 or 2012.

EDIT: Changed 2013 to 2012.

Why didn't we sell? Why?

"You're not going to have him when you want him and you're going to run out of games. He can't pitch 90 games. It's just not going to work. If anyone thinks it's going to work, show me how."- Craig Counsell on Josh Hader.

Counsell would absolutely be hired by another team. Anyone that doesn't acknowledge that is out to lunch.

2012. It's pretty much the same, at least the bullpen is just as horrific and the starters quite a bit worse.

I don't know. Clearly could have gotten something good for Chacin or Albers.

I think Albers could’ve fetched something low level. Chacin probably not.

What's with this repetitive mantra about selling? We have nothing to sell unless it's Yelich. Expiring Moose that nobody wanted 2x in FA and a couple months of Grandal when every contender has a C? That we didn't "sell" is really not going to hold us back in the grand way people seem to think. The return would have been marginal at best.

Yeah, 2012. Couldn't even get the season right in my reply. Corrected it in the thread above.

Williams doesn’t appear to be ready. Looked good vs pirates, but not so much lately, throwing FB right down Broadway and getting killed. But Nelson Suter and Peralta are coming.

-39 run differential.

This is not a playoff team.

Nelson and Peralta gonna save the day. Imagine if I told you in June we'd be within 4 games of the last wild card but those two were coming in to close the gap.
