How would you feel to see an opening day starting rotation of:

1. Woodruff
2. Anderson
3. Houser
4. Lyles
5. Davies

I would say Woodruff, Anderson, Houser, and Davies is fine...but he better find a good starter instead of Lyles.

I would have absolutely no qualms with bringing Lyles back as a depth piece. If he doesn't make the rotation, that arm will play in the pen. The guy has been about as close to a revelation as you're going to get since coming back.

the hits just keep on coming, 3 year deals based off 6 games hot streaks.

Oh sure, I would fully support us bringing someone as a depth piece. Not as our #5 guy because that means the depth is likely our prospects once again...and that's not a promising plan.

I’d prefer 2 years, if he fails as a starter, he can pitch out of the pen. I don’t care what he did before he came to MKE last year, as much as what he’s done while pitching for the brewers. With the crew he’s been great. What’s the risk factor here?

The risk factor is that he's Jordan Lyles.

2 year deal > age 29 & 30 seasons. It’s more than 6 games hot streak. But I will admit, for me, he definitely passes the eye test. His stuff is really good and has good command too.

Junior's splitter is pretty nasty today. Nice to see him throwing that pitch...

Didn’t you just say if starting didn’t work out, he’s good out of the pen?

Seems like your sorta talking out of both side of the mouth, you know, based on, your previous posts.

Well that's definitely worth a 3 year extension...

Are they planning to use Hader for 2 innings? I don't really like that to be honest. I'd rather him focus on getting through 1 clean.

It’s great seeing junior pitch like this. Splitter is nasty. If he can pitch close to this moving forward, this would be huge.

Here once again you are 100% wrong. I am an advocate for bringing him back next year, as he's got a good arm and the potential benefit is worth the risk in my opinion. There's still an obvious risk, though.

That is a FAR FAR cry from handing him a 3-year contract.

Agree.
Get Pomeranz to warm up, just in case he doesn’t have it.

I'd be more inclined to have Jackson warm, Cardinals are very RH heavy. But either way yeah, we should be ready in case it looks bad early.

Stop with the 3 year contract. I already said numerous times I’d prefer a 2 year deal.

But why give multi-year deals to these guys? It doesn't make sense. You are paying two years for a guy that hasn't proven he can pitch one. Unless it is a team option only, it doesn't make any sense.

I think he's gotta throw offspeed to Ozuna. I remember him having success against Hader. He really sells out on the high fastball...

Lyles is the definition of a pitcher who you basically pay year-to-year.
