I can't believe there are still people who think this team is going to just flip a switch and be good in September.

Quintana's first career extra base hit. [laughing] Good stuff.

I don't think there are. There are people, like me, who want it to happen. But we all know it isn't.

There’s one right here.
We all figured, or at least I did, probable losses vs Cubbies LHP, then with the wind blowing in > very very high probability of losses first 2 games. Sunday’s game I’m hoping they can win, it’s probably a toss-up.

It’s not a light switch, it’s massive pitching added to make a dominant bullpen. A couple of position player additions to help too. This team can get hot in a hurry.

BC92, no. There's no massive help coming. If they had this huge cache of pitching weapons in reserve, do you really think they'd still be holding them back, with all the holes in this pitching staff?

They're done. Plain and simple.

Also, if you are already counting on "probable losses" to teams that you're chasing and already falling far behind, that's probably not a great sign that you're going to turn it around.

It seems 66% of the time they get nothing, and another 20% they get a run.

What happens the other 38% of the time?

I guess I just feel like if there were options to get outs on the 40-man, they'd be up already.

I hope you're right, bit 5 games is a lot to make up in 27 games even getting massively hot. If it's a loss today, you have to go 20-8, and, even then, if the Cubs or Phillies play a shade over .500, you're done.

Admire the optimism, though!

What a great tag by Arcia!!!

"You're not going to have him when you want him and you're going to run out of games. He can't pitch 90 games. It's just not going to work. If anyone thinks it's going to work, show me how."- Craig Counsell on Josh Hader.

Been saying those same words since the last time the brewers were in Wrigley.

Ill-advised steal attempt, but that was a great slide.

Getting harder and harder to remember how good Cain was last season. He just flat out stinks this year. (offensively)

Unless someone can steal home, the runs scored will remain the same regardless. Same old, tiresome story.

Cain > bad hitter this year especially if you look at RISP. My opinion > the age related regression offensively is in full view.

I'm guessing Hiura's leg is hurting from that Schwarber slide. Great

That Perez/Spangenberg middle infield of September is sure to strike fear in the hearts of the Cubs and Cardinals.

It just gets better.

Can we start talking about tanking for a better draft slot? [laughing]

I literally cannot think of one single instance in Counsell's managerial tenure when he ordered retaliation for a dirty act. Not one.
