Looks like we have good Peralta today.

Add Freddy now to our enormous list of unhittable late inning shutdown relievers.

Freitas is a below average defensive C, with a bad pop time, and Counsell is not gonna C him, but he’s a real good hitter. You haven’t seen that YET. Not exactly easy to get in back in a rhythm with 1 AB a game. He’ll get some big pinch hits this month.

That was a hideous bunt by Spangenberg.

That never stopped you from bad mouthing Pina. Which is why you wanted Frietas called up to begin with.

"You're not going to have him when you want him and you're going to run out of games. He can't pitch 90 games. It's just not going to work. If anyone thinks it's going to work, show me how."- Craig Counsell on Josh Hader.

I find it kind of hilarious that when Freitas was coming up in the minors, he couldn't hit a lick, so the narrative on him was "yeah his calling card is defense".

Now when he starts to hit the narrative has shifted to "he's a terrible defensive catcher."

In general I think people do assume that good hitting catchers can't play defense, and the best defensive catchers can't hit.

Pina has performed better than I thought he would, so yes, I was wrong. Just don’t think he’s a #1. And he’s not getting any younger. He’s a great #2 C.

Guerra is approaching Claudio like levels in appearances.

"You're not going to have him when you want him and you're going to run out of games. He can't pitch 90 games. It's just not going to work. If anyone thinks it's going to work, show me how."- Craig Counsell on Josh Hader.

The Junior lead off walk as usual. This is insanity.

If I had a nickel for every leadoff walk Guerra has given up...

Junior "leadoff walk" Guerra. Always the way you want to start the 8th inning of a tie game in the most important series of the year.

I understand not wanting to use Hader in a tie in May. June. July. But if you're not going to use him here on three days rest, I don't get it.

I k ow we probably need a win tomorrow too, but this is probably the highest leverage inning of the year. I want my best guy out there.

Getting lucky with these foul balls. These are bad pitches by Junior.

Guerra- another pitcher we won’t have to see again next year. It’s gonna be some kind of turnover

You can only trot out Guerra so many times before you get burned by his walks.

This is a terrible decision to bring in Pomeranz.
