Peralta could have pitched 2 maybe even 3 innings today. Pitching black with a 2-1 lead in the 6th, was not following a script. It was a odd move, especially after what Happened in St. Louis. I mean if we needed to cover 4 innings with no Hader Suter Pomeranz, Davies should have pitched until trouble, the Peralta to finish the save. Peralta’s not been inconsistent, he’s been overwhelmingly dominant.

Sheesh. Peralta gave up 3 runs against the Pirates last time he pitched.

Zero earned. Error. Gave up 2 hits, nothing really hit hard. I’ll stand behind my words again, Peralta has been better than fantastic all month. I was in Cincinnati for yesterday’s game and saw peralta throwing some long toss before the game in the outfield, so I don’t think he’s hurt.

Runs are runs, and hits are hits. He didn't have it against the Pairates. He also gave up two earned against the Marlins. He has been better this month, but it hasn't been fantastic. I love his stuff, and love his future potential wherever they decide to use him, but he is inconsistent.

Cubs hang on for the 8-2 win. No ground lost in the division race!

Go get 'em tomorrow. Hopefully the Cubs' AAA squad can keep the pressure on the Cards.

Last 7 appearances for Peralta:

9.1 IP 6 H 2 BB 19 K’s 1.93 ERA

Hits are hits and runs are runs, but kinda looks like the stats of an overwhelmingly dominant pitcher to me.

Like I said overwhelmingly dominant.

Peralta has been fine. He's not overwhelmingly dominant. You have this habit of taking something good, putting it in your mouth, chewing it up, and spitting it out, then expecting everyone to call it great. You overblow things constantly, and get mad when people don't jump on your pie in the sky bandwagon.

BC92, I appreciate your optimism. I really do. The board doesn't have enough of it most nights. But when you continue to post these completely over-the-top thoughts, even the most optimistic of us get annoyed. I've told you this before, but I think if just toned it down on the over the top claims, and perhaps lessened the combativeness a tad when others disagree with your takes, you'd have a lot more fun here, and posters would take you more seriously.

Didn’t watch tonight but we were due for a loss. Better today than next week. Coors Field stats shouldn’t count.

Saying Peralta should have pitched over Black is not over the top. Not exactly going out on a limb saying Peralta is better than Black. Peralta has been dominant at Coors and had not pitched since Sunday. Lots has been made of the Cubs B squad but that was the Brewers B/C squad of pitching from the 6th on, nice job by Davies.

lets get that bad name over and win the series and just maybe

This is what I was thinking last night. We had won a bunch of games in a row and we were probably due for a stinker. I'd rather we get that bad game out of the way now and not in the WC game against the Nats if we don't catch the Cards. Let's hope Braun's calf isn't serious.
