Nice seeing Ray pop one there. Not really counting on him at this point, but he still has the tools to be a bonus if he ever clicks, either as an asset on the team or in trade.

Supplement to my earlier post:

1. Forgot to mention that Faria looked terrible against the Cubs. Every ball they hit was hard contact. Not fooling anybody. At this point he is a waste of a 40 man spot.

Also attended today versus the Reds, comments as follows:

1. Morrison has serious pop. The ball was not flying today and he was able to hit one out to a deeper part of the park.

2. Lauer is good. Has command of three pitches.

3. Ray Black had no fastball or offspeed command. With no options remaining I fear his time is limited.

Faria was already DFA'd, cleared waivers, and is in camp as a non-roster invitee. I think Black's spot in the pen is pretty much assured too.

Good to hear on Faria. I am not shocked the entire league passed on him on waivers.

On another note, I doubt Black is a sure thing. He looked really really bad.

A power pitcher having trouble with command a week or two into camp is nothing new, and probably not something to get real upset about. If we get to the last week of Spring Training games and Black still looks lost, that's the time to get concerned.

Corey Ray is a bust. He doesn't even have the "high school young for his age" excuse

He's playing his age 25 season. Either he breaks out and puts himself on the map this season, or he never will.

Today during practice I noticed Hader talking with a coach about 12-6 curveball grips.

Maybe something, maybe just bored...I thought it was interesting though.

Harder with a 12-6 curve would almost be unfair.

His slider looked good today.

Kinda figured that would happen with the extension being announced today.

The first time they are putting out a line up that is mostly actual starters.

Cain
Smoak
Yelich
Hiura
Narvaez
Garcia
Holt
Gyorko
Mathias

BTW... I was today years old when I realized it was Narvaez instead of Navarez...

As long as I can remember. No reason to risk any injury to a pitcher batting in ST. Plus it gets a few more AB for a position player.

I believe we agreed on El Narvdog a while back.
