His salary demands might be more than Stearns is willing to pay for a part-time, one position player. Perfect AL player who can play a little 1B and DH. But I think you're right about the Sox re-signing him. Everything I've read says they like his leadership and his bat.

Well if you signed him you'd be planning on him playing everyday and not being part time platoon. His career splits are fine. Sure he crushes LHP but is fine vs RHP too. That said, at his age and with some regression showing the last two years already I don't think you can go substantial length with him. If you can get one or two years then it could make sense but I'd guess Sox trump anything we should be willing to do
