Bored at work...

He hits right-handed, could platoon with Thames at 1st and give Moose a day off at 3rd (assuming Brewers option Shaw and dump Aguilar). He's hitting very well for the Dodgers but mostly comes off the bench so maybe they would part with him?

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

He'd be a nice addition but it seems like a nearly impossible match. I can't think of too many situations where two top contenders made an in season trade to try to be mutually beneficial. They would also want something that could help them right now and I'm not sure what we could give in return that wouldn't hurt us too.

Yeah that's true. Player is a match, teams are not.

While we're at it, let's trade for Pujols, Molina, and LaRussa and get it over with....

Really sucks that Aguilar sucks. Adam covered why this won't work, so that's all I have to add.

I agree that I would be surprised if the Dodgers were motivated to move Freese.

I like the idea from the standpoint of finding another player that could cover at least the corner infield spots with regularity. It is sort of along the same lines as bringing in Jerry Hairston in 2011 to play around the diamond, in that case to help make up for the loss of an injured Rickie Weeks and a slumping Casey McGehee. It may make less sense this year with Keston Hiura an option to take over the 2B spot with more regularity, but a right handed bat that can play multiple positions may make the transition away from either Shaw or Aguilar an easier one.

Isn't Perez the RH option at multiple positions. To add Freese and Hiura, CC would have to jettison BOTH Shaw and Aguilar. Perez is needed for his versatility, Gamel is the 4th OF, Pina = backup catcher, Freese.
