I’d stay away from Directv Now. They’ve shown either zero interest or zero ability to fix the same problems that they’ve had since they started. Tonight my tv is basically unwatchable because it stops to buffer literally every minute. And when you chat with their customer service they offer the same tired troubleshooting tips which don’t work. They recently rolled out an update and now the “guide” portion takes a anywhere from thirty seconds to two or three minutes to load the shows. And you can’t select the channel until it loads so even though you know what you want to watch you can’t actually watch it until the guide loads.

I wanted to complain again tonight but since my wait time was 27 minutes, after already waiting ten minutes, I decided to say screw it.

Literally my laziness in finding a new tv package is the only reason I still have DirectvNow. What a crappy product. Oh and they STILL don’t offer CBS as a live station in the Milwaukee area.

Found it amusing last night seeing a Spectrum commercial with a door to door DirectTV salesman trying to get a Spectrum customer to switch to DirectTV. The salesman keeps bringing up DirectTV features that are obviously worse than Spectrum (fewer channels, a contract that doubles after a year, etc). Hey AT&T, your first order of business now that the acquisition is complete may be to get those commercials off the air.

Edit: Realized after talking to someone else that the acquisition does not include the cable portion (Time Warner Cable/Spectrum).

FWIW, our family over the past couple years has tried Sling, PSVue, and now YoutubeTV. I find YoutubeTV to have the best interface and most reliability.

I actually liked the Sling lineup slightly better, but I was getting various glitches, like the picture cutting out frequently. I have had basically zero problems with YoutubeTV. I just wish they would add Comedy Central and AXS.

At any rate, I will never be going back to Charter/Spectrum (aside from their internet service).

Trying to catch the preseason game but youtubetv is telling me its not available for streaming. Please tell me this is just a preseason thing. I'm hoping it is because I was able to watch parts of the hall of fame game last week.

Yea, this scares me. Youtube TV was the one I was about to try. I will have anarchy if I go to turn the Packers on in week one and it's not available. So for the pre-season game, did you go to the local channel in Milwaukee (NBC, CBS.....whatever station it was on) and it wasn't available?

As an FYI -- PSView does not carry Fox 6 in Milwaukee. We use OTA when watching games on FOX.

It is just a preseason thing, the local networks themselves have to negotiate streaming rights. Won't be an issue in the regular season when all games are handled by national networks.

I was looking ahead and the Steelers game had a not available sign by it, but now it's gone. So fingers crossed that something's been worked out. Plus I did find the Tennessee game in the dvr which was weird, not sure if the replay played and got taped or what.

I don't get MLB network so I'll be looking for a way to stream the playoff game tomorrow. I saw that MLB.TV has some promotion where you can use your cable provider's authentication code to get access for select playoff games: https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games/s ... stseasonus

Does anyone know if this would work in the Milwaukee area, or would we have blackout concerns? Otherwise it looks like youtube tv, directv now, and playstation vue all have mlb network.

Blackout concerns would only apply if the game was also on local TV, thus taking away viewers from the local broadcast. That won't be the case with the playoff game tomorrow so it should work.

Unless I'm reading that incorrectly, you have to be an MLB.TV subscriber.

Thanks for pointing that out, I clearly didn't read that closely enough. Looks like I'll be doing a trial on one of the streaming services.

Fallout from the Brewers/Rockies game on MLB Network:

My Charter Spectrum subscription at $186.00/mo did not include MLB Network, so I signed up for YOUTUBE TV 7 day trial. Watched the game. Enjoyed it. Now I am canceling my Charter Cable and phone portion, sticking with broadband only and adding Youtube TV for a total of about $100/mo Will save me at least $86.00 monthly

I went with Sling back in July and dealt with a lot of stupidity in the canceling from Direct TV. Given the price difference at nearly $100/ month I can't see going back, but I have encountered some annoying issues. Like despite never having any issues streaming Netflix, Sling will have issues at high traffic times of day. Theoretically my broadband provider has said I can upgrade my modem to get some more bandwidth. Part of the appeal of Sling was streaming from an account but he cell signal at my cabin is pretty awful and means at a minimum I need a booster to use it there.

I had Hulu for just a little while, but the changed their format and no longer offer the "What was on yesterday/day before" section, and so I unsubscribed.

Fox 11 has been added back as a local channel for Vue in the Fox Valley. We now get 3 local channels NBC, FOX, and ABC pretty cool.

I've been watching the playoff games online at MLB tv for free. I don't have a subscription, don't have cable, dish, directtv, sling or anything. All I did was google how can I get the Brewers game for free and it came up as one of the choices. Weird thing is I miss the commercials. They just have a message saying commercial break with no background noise at all. I've started to hum theme songs from old sitcoms just to have some background noise. Other than that it comes in well with no issues.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
