So I just signed up for Sling Blue.

Can anybody tell me where on the channel guide I can find Fox Sports Wisconsin? I can't seem to locate it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

you might want to check out this page and enter your zip code. Most Milwaukee area zips don't get FSN Wisconsin, just FSN North....

http://help.sling.com/articles/en_US/FA ... ng-TV-work

edit: This may be the issue (from that page):

"FOX Sports North is a full-time channel, whereas FOX Sports Wisconsin only has programming when there are multiple live sporting events on simultaneously."

I don't know what sling blu is but here in MN we have a sling that offered ESPN and a different version that offered the FSN channels to watch the Twins/Wild/T Wolves and we had to choose between the two.

The most attractive thing (for us) with DirecTV is frankly the DVR. Being able to watch whatever we want when we want. Also the ability to pause and rewind live TV. We currently pay about $75 a month.

Any of the options mentioned above provide DVR capability? Or is it mainly using Hulu or other services that provide most shows with an on-demand streaming function?

Spectrum has DVR, and it's great!

Sling has DVR and I believe it is $5 a month. However, some events/channels don't have DVR capability. It isn't the best DVR but I use it mainly for Bucks/Brewers games so I can continue watching after putting the kids to bed.

If you're using it on like a Smart TV or a fire stick or a ps4 or something of that nature, your best bet is probably to use the Fox Sports Go app with your sling login and password. That's what I have to do with PSVue to get Brewer games. Was annoying at first but ended up liking it more in the long run.

I have PSVue as well and I don't mind having to use the FOX Sports Go App to watch games. The only thing is there's no recording capabilities like there is with PSVue but other than that it's way better value than our old setup with DVR.

The DVR functions are what is keeping me at DirecTV right now. I really wish one of these other services had a better DVR type system and I probably would make the switch.

PSVue has virtually unlimited "DVR" but again, no regional Fox Sports, no "big" FOX and no History channel. But you can get both FSN and FOX on separate apps, sans DVR. Those are my only complaints since switching from cable in December, really.

Thanks fellas.

Next question:

Does Sling TV "blackout" many Brewers games on Fox Sports Wisconsin if I live in the Milwaukee area? (New Berlin, BTW)

I live in Southeast Wisconsin and can see every Brewers game that I would be able to with my local cable provider (ie. every FS-Wisconsin Brewers broadcast).

I haven't had cable in 15 years, so I haven't been able to watch much baseball, but I've had pretty good luck with Spectrum. I was paying $60 for Time Warner 15 MB internet. Switched to Spectrum internet for $5 more and the speed increased to 60 MB. And a few months later, it increased to 100 MB for the same price.

Since I got a Roku TV, I have been able to use the Fox Sports Go app with my Spectrum login and watch all the Fox Sports without having cable TV. I know this may go away at anytime, but it's been fun to actually watch sports again.

I have the same thing now... But how do I actually get 100 MB/sec? Because when I do a speed test, I top out at 26 MB/sec.

How old is your modem? If your modem is several years old it might not be able to handle the faster speeds. My legacy TWC plan recently increased by $5, so I made the switch over to the Spectrum plan as well. My speeds have gone from ~16mb to ~30mb. My modem is 5 years old, so I could probably get faster if I bought a new one, but for a single guy living alone, and no 4k streaming, 30mb is plenty for me (16 was honestly, but why pay the same for less). I might threaten or maybe even follow through with switching to AT&T for $40 a month for a year though, but do not really like AT&T just by reputation.

I'll have to check... But I was getting 20 MB/sec with the 60 MB internet.

I didn't have to do anything to get the faster speed. I'm actually closer to 120 MB/sec now. But I do have my own modem and not one rented from TWC/Spectrum. I work from home a lot, so I do need the extra speed. And never any buffering.

TWC did run a new line from the street when I switched from AT&T a number of years ago, so that may be a factor as well.

If you're using wifi instead of a hard-wired ethernet line, you'll never top out at the speed listed. But it shouldn't be THAT much below.

Tried YouTube TV and I think this is going to finally get me to cut the cord. Not sure about Milwaukee, but it has all of the local Green Bay channels along with FS Wisconsin and MLB and NBA Networks. Plus it has unlimited cloud DVR storage, really happy with it so far.
