I am not talking graduation parties for 4K and Kindergarten; just small ceremonies that the schools put together. Having a party for 4K or kindergarten is ridiculous. My oldest just had her kindergarten graduation and it was a really cool little ceremony. Certainly wasn't some big ordeal but the kids really liked it and got to show off some of what they learned.

There should only be graduation parties for college and passing of a skilled trade. Completing high school should be an expectation, not a cause for celebration.

I think it should be the opposite way. High School graduation marks the beginning of adulthood. After high school the person is in charge of their lives and have the ability to choose any path they want. Their parents cannot legally control them (assuming they are 18) and every decision they make from that point forward is that of an adult. That is about as big a deal as any they will have in their entire life. Graduating College or tech school is just about them moving from one phase of adulthood to another.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Our house is 34 years old and is at the point where major systems are needing replaced. In the past two years, we've had to replace our washer/dryer, water softener, microwave, dishwasher, and fireplace, and we've had to have the torsion springs on our garage door replaced, need a new front door because is is incredibly drafty, and now we're going to need a new AC in the next year or two. This is on top of windows and a roof we had redone 7 years ago. It's been tough on the bank account, that's for sure.

I make a point to never listen/watch sports talk. While hitting up some rummage sales this morning I had TMJ on and they were going to do a segment about the Brewers. I was going to change the station to avoid the utter stupidity that was to come from the callers, but we just got to a sale so we got out of the car and didn't. When I get back in I hear the caller blathering about how bad the starting pitchers are (not saying their names correctly either) and that Garza is the worst and needs to go. The host agreed Garza is terrible and is holding the team back. Sure Garza has stuck before but he's been serviceable this year. The host also went on to say that the team should make a move for a starting pitcher but shouldn't give up much to get one. And then said Sonny Gray is the perfect guy they should go after, because apparently he'll cost peanuts. Turned it off as soon as I heard the Sonny Gray comment.

For the first time in however many dozens of games I've been to at MP, my section won the sausage race for the first time on Saturday. Since I'd never won before I had no idea what the 'prize' was so decided to actually go get it. It was lip gloss. I mean, why even bother with a prize at all if it's going to be that lame. Just tie a section to every sausage, and say you're the winner, yay. I wasn't expecting much but was surprised it was that bad, I thought something like a $5 or $10 food voucher eligible to be used another day was in the ballpark of reasonable for such a promotion. A lot of people aren't even going to claim it, others will forget to bring it back, it might create a reason for some to come back again, and when they do come back they'll by other stuff concessions or their friend will buy something.

Obviously this wasn't a big deal or anything. I was just very surprised it was so bad.

Also, during that Saturday game the team got booed coming off the field when they gave up the 2 runs to go down 5-3. And again to go down 7-5. This team is way overachieving and has such good energy, effort, karma, and chemistry vibes going among the team. Has to annoy them to get booed like that. I know the bullpen has been frustrating lately, but no way should we be booing them right now. If a team is showing no effort, energy, or just generally playing terribly (take the last month or so of 2014 when we blew that big lead) I can understand it. But right now we gotta support the team, as David Puddy would say.

I'm sure every player there knew what the booing was for and probably agreed with it.

Milwaukee is just one of those cities where the fans are prone to booing. Suppan, Gagne, Helms, Ned Yost in general, etc. I don't always condone it, but at least the fans care about winning.

Some cities are the complete opposite. I've never heard any booing at Safeco Field in Seattle, including during a 16-1 loss that I attended last month. The crowd was entirely unfazed by a 10-0 deficit in the 4th, still cheering enthusiastically like nothing had happened (except a lone dissenter who was quite angry with the Mariners). It was hilarious.

Well even the best teams in baseball lose 65-70 games per year, have to be prepared to take some losses. Like I said, if the team is just squat and showing no effort then I get it,I won't do it, but I get it. This team has been a huge positive this year, get behind them. It's not like that pitcher doesn't feel crappy and embarrassed enough already or that management doesn't know what just happened.

This seriously happened tonight.

Can't find phone, look through entire house (only 1400 sq. ft., one level). Start panicking, think I may have left it on the train.
Call Sprint, see if they can locate it.
Nope, but they direct me towards Android Device Manager.
Try to log into Android Device Manager... won't accept Google username and password.
Google says, "We don't recognize this device."
I've owned this computer for seven years!
"We don't recognize this device. We will need to send a verification to your phone."
I don't have my phone!!
Select "Can't enter verification" option. Select "can't access my phone".
Google says, "Sorry, you will need to verify through your phone."
I DON'T HAVE MY PHONE - THAT'S WHY I'M TRYING TO USE ANDROID DEVICE MANAGER!!!
Try to log into Google. "Sorry, we don't recognize this device."
But my username and password are correct, AND I'VE OWNED THIS COMPUTER FOR SEVEN YEARS!!!
"Sorry, we don't recognize this device."
Search Google for alternate verification, asks city I was born in. Whew, I know that.
Nope. "Sorry, we can't verify it is you. You will need to verify via your phone."
I DON'T HAVE MY PHONE!!!!
Find a way to verify through another email address. OK, that will work.
Get the verification code, enter it, Google says, "We will get back to you within 1-3 hours."
Are you @#$@!%&%$#@$ me???
Aha - work laptop, I've logged into Gmail there before. Able to log into Gmail via work laptop. Able to launch Android Device Manager, able to ring phone, find it on top of the fridge.

Is it because I logged into Gmail from my work computer that I could no longer log into my account through my personal computer? If so, that's ridiculous - don't people have multiple devices? I have an old desktop, a newer laptop (that sucks so I still use the older desktop), a work laptop, and my phone. And I can only log into the account on one device?

And how the hell are people supposed to verify through their phone when they select the option THAT THEY DON'T HAVE OR CAN'T USE THEIR PHONE?!?!?

And then there's Sprint, who has asked me for additional verification THREE TIMES IN THE LAST THREE DAYS when I've tried to login to my account...

Gearing up for Saturday, the worst day of the year. It'll be a line of cars all day. And a pretty healthy number of people who truly believe that they can show up five minutes before the fireworks start and be escorted to the best parking spot in the place--and gripe when they're told no. It's amazing how many people genuinely believe the world revolves around them.

Really crossing my fingers it goes smoothly, that nobody shoots a gun off or tries to rob us, that we don't have fights or other nonsense.

One of my siblings is a police officer who was usually assigned to traffic control when Madison's big fireworks show was at a north side park. Every year there was at least one collision between my sibling and a vehicle whose operator wouldn't listen to basic traffic control instructions. Not serious enough to cause injury, but still a very regular outcome.

So, godspeed to you.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

You have no idea.

Sunday evening I'm leaving to go get groceries. The garage is off of the alley, and the alley is narrow so it is of course only one way. The end of the alley that connects to the street on your way out clearly has a "Do Not Enter" sign on it. But if you live on that end of the alley... you know, you can't drive to the other end of the block and enter the alley at the proper place, you have to enter the alley where it says "Do Not Enter" and drive the wrong way.

I'm trying to leave the alley, and sure enough, coming the wrong way is a woman in a black BMW. I stop, throw my hands up, like, "What the hell?" She sits there and does nothing. I go over to her window and ask, "Did you see the sign that says, Do Not Enter?" She says, "I've done this a million times and I'm not moving." She puts her car in park and shuts it off.

We have a staredown for five minutes, but I don't have time for that crap so I budge and back up. As soon as I get to the alley exit, sure enough, there comes a police car. All I had to do was go out to the street and wait another minute and I might have been able to get her ticketed for going the wrong way, failure to yield the right of way, and parking in an alley (which is a $250 fine).

I'd appreciate the police officers on the forum to chime in on their thoughts.

Sports talk radio is the absolute worst. Not just the callers but the hosts and their guests as well. To the point that one doesn't need to know jack about sports to understand this solely based on how they communicate. None of them are sharp individuals

You have no idea #2:

A friend of mine lives next to the high school athletics field. There is parking along the road and a main entrance for people to access the field. There are also alternate gate entrances for people to get into the field.

But she regularly has people pull into her driveway (at the far end of the field, farthest from anything), have their kids change into their sport clothes, block her driveway, and then have the kids climb over the fence to get into the field.

The last time she asked them to leave, the response was "get a life!" And of course, they are gone before the police will respond.

She has pictures of the license plates, but the police won't do anything unless they are there since its a "minor" issue.
