Lyme disease. If anyone ever asks me what I DON'T like about Wisconsin I am reminded the insects are a huge negative. Ticks now move to #1 on my hate list ahead of deer flies and mosquitoes.

I honestly thought there was a vaccine for lyme disease until you posted this. My dad's side of the family all moved way the hell up North, so that's where I'd spend my summers. Back then, awesome, hundreds of acres(they were all next to each other and land cheap) of just woods and 4 wheeler trails.

I went up there a few years ago with my dog. I was having the land select cut and I didn't know anything about any of it. But I walked through those woods and this field in the summer and it was like a scene out of a movie....one of the 7 plagues. A river runs through the land, so....it was wet, there was no point in even trying to swat the mosquitoese and when I got back to the little house/cabin on the property I pulled...25 ticks off my dog. Pulled them off for the next month in different spots. Under the arm pit, things like that.

It was the first time I ever noticed how bad they really were. God that was miserable.

Oh, anyway, why I came here. Nancy Grace. I mean, I think she bugs everyone, but I'm just screwing around here at work watching Hulu and I saw a clip of here.

I take you're in Wisconsin, right?

I was thinking about switching to Dish from Direct TV. That right there is enough of a reason for me to not bother.

Standard negotiation tactics, FRSN pulls broadcast rights from provider to try to get more money. It will be resolved at some point.

https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/sling-tv-dish-lose-fox-rsns/

Dish sent Cord Cutters News the following statement about the blackouts: “DISH and Sling has offered the Fox Regional Sports Networks a short-term extension, in an effort to quickly negotiate a fair, long-term deal for our customers. The RSNs offered an extension that would put the new expiration date up against the 2020 Major League Baseball Opening Day. They want to use baseball fans as negotiation leverage, while continuing to get paid in the meantime for sports with lower viewership. Coming to a fair deal is in the interest of customers, not a nine-month extension that simply puts them in the middle again.”

Had a tick on my body about a month ago for the first time in my life. On my back, had just latched on. Went to scratch my back, felt like a skin tag or something stuck to my skin, slowly pulled it off, looked at what it was, and couldn't have been more surprised.

I say that because I spent the entire day in Chicago and in the suburbs, only having come close to one tree all day. And I had two shirts on - a dress shirt, and an undershirt, and it got under both of them.

Was just reading an article about ticks. Insidious little jerkwads. They secrete a pain killer that prevents you from feeling the bite which is why they can sit there sucking your blood for days without you noticing.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

It was sort of my own fault, I got a new weed wacker and was clearing an area of my backyard for a hour or so every morning for a few days. I was out of bug spray after the first day but plowed forward anyway, it's not like there is a lack of awareness about the risk around here, I even thought about how tick infested it probably was while doing it but figured I would find any ticks on me. Then some time later I had a strange fever for a couple of days and finally noticed a rash on the back of my leg, right where I wouldn't have noticed a tick. Hopefully the antibiotics got rid of it, if you catch it early it is supposedly no big deal. Ironically I was clearing the area because my dogs were too close to the weeds when on their tie out and I was worried about them getting ticks.

There is a vaccine for dogs and the FDA is fast tracking one for people right now.

I didn't know about the vaccine. That's good news. I know someone that has Lyme's and some days they feel just awful.

I have a printer/scanner combo that uses individual ink cartridges for different colors. First of all, it seems like I can print 5 pages before it runs out of one of the colors. I don't know why it's using cyan when I'm printing a document. Second, I have an empty cartridge that I'm not planning on refilling anytime soon (mostly because my Costco got rid of their photo department and that's where I filled them). I cannot scan while it has an empty cartridge. They want me to buy ink in order to scan. What a racket.

I had a color printer for years and had the same exact issues you have. What's worse is that I hardly ever printed in color. Finally gave up on it last year and just bought a monochrome printer.

The Toyota commercial where their annoyingly perky spokesperson lady sings a country song duet trying to con people into buying a 2019 model wasn't horrible when it first started about a week ago, but it has gotten grating with the 1,940th viewing since then. I mean, I get that Toyota is a pretty big Brewers sponsor, but can't they air a different commercial once in a while?

So what you're saying is you lost your lunch at work?

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Sorry man, my bad. Figured you didn't want it, and I didn't want to let it go to waste.

P.S.: Wouldn't kill you to have a couple mini snickers or a ding dong or whatever for dessert.

I was driving over to LaCrosse today and hit a spot where the left lane was closed for some work on a bridge. There was a pretty decent backup, but traffic was moving. About 3/4 mile from the lane closure, everyone merges right and only a few cars are staying in the left lane, including myself. About a half-mile from the lane closure, some guy in the right lane pulls halfway into the left lane, actively blocking people from using the zipper method (I guess we all had to zipper a bit early). I really want to see a widespread PSA campaign promoting the use of proper zippering.

Based on what happened with zippering in Milwaukee when the zoo interchange work was being done, zippering doesn't occur 100 yards before the lane closure. I get really frustrated when I properly zipper with ample time and people either try to zoom in at the last 100 yards, or go into the distress lane (rush hour) to sneak in. While the guy probably shouldn't have gone 1/2 way into the lane, he was probably preventing the situation that I see daily.

That bugs me... [wink]

Actually, 100 yards is a long distance when traffic is moving slowly. Many times there are signs that say "Merge here" and they are usually at the very end of where the lane ends (within 50 yards of where the lane ends). At some point there needs to be a merge and it makes the most sense to merge/zipper towards the very end of the zone (especially when traffic is moving slowly) in order to cause the least number of backups. On most days on my way home from work I enter the freeway going westbound on 94 at the Clybourn on ramp at 6th street. On occasion, there are backups on the freeway which causes traffic on the ramp to back up. The majority of people I see try to merge WAY too early instead of using the entire length of the ramp and merging at the end of the ramp where there are arrows on the pavement. Merging that early causes bigger backups on the on ramp that will sometimes spill into the intersection. I do notice that when I go to the end of the ramp in those situations, I get looks like I'm the one being rude when in actuality they are the ones that are not understanding the concept. They extended the ramp that far for a reason. They want you to use the entire ramp during backups.
