On the deer thing, I saw a buck get absolutely lit up outside Harford this week. A legit buck, rack and all. This thing was sprinting across highway 60 about 50 feet in front of me, then a sedan hit it on the other side. The bumper fell off, and this thing went twirling ~ 20 feet high. It got so high up it landed on the grass. He got up wobbling but can't believe he lasted much longer.

We had an incident of vandalism to a women's restroom at my library yesterday. Someone got in the cleaning supply cabinet and threw toilet cleaner all over the walls and ceiling. The room was unusable until a ServPro team came in to clean things up.

This morning, we learned that the culprit was a now-fired employee who had been hired in August to clean the 2nd floor of my building. Besides trashing the restroom, he threatened his maintenance supervisor, responded to the vandalism with no remorse, and said he hopes his supervisor dies. His supervisor is a woman and I'm guessing he's in the category of disliking having a woman tell him what to do.

So he's gone, but without returning his keys to the building (which he claims to have lost), and he's regarded as a "threat case" by police.
This really makes for a peaceful easy feeling at work. [sad]

Good luck. We just dealt with a similar "this guy could be the guy who does it" employee situation. Thankfully he left on his own before we had to fire, so we didn't have that confrontation to deal with. Still, those few days leading up to him leaving and turning his keys everyone was on edge. Some people took days off, each day I came in late and spent a lot of time away from the office/desk to avoid the possibility. Multiple people asked for extra security. Multiple told their bosses they'd be suing the company if it happened. Things like that. People were legit afraid, thankfully nothing happened and all should be good now, but it's kind of just sad that is in the back of everyone's mind these days.

Best of luck with that situation Hawing. Any thought of changing the locks on the building?

That's what I was wondering.

Thanks for the well wishes. I think the facilities people are aware of the value of changing the locks. It'd be a big operation, though, and I'll bet they are hoping it needn't come to that. I don't know how much of the building this guy had access to.

At least some of the access points in the building are electronically monitored, and any card/fob dude had has surely been deactivated by now.

The person to whom the threats were directed seemed reasonably herself when I saw her today, but at no point did I see her without a (large and fairly imposing) maintenance colleague nearby.

Update: The building will be rekeyed starting next week.

I have been unfortunate enough to hit f deer in my life. The first one I hit with a '89 Firebird while doing about 60mph. It went off my hood and windshield up in the air over my car and the car driving following me actually drove under it..

Man, that seems like a long time to wait with a psycho on the loose.

It's not ideal, but if the dude had access to the whole building (I don't know if he did/does), that's a large job. I don't feel like they're dragging their feet.

The new Cellcom commercials with Lafleur are gratingly annoying. He's got so much more charisma than McCarthy every had, and instead of using that, they barely give him anything to do and instead focus on the annoying girl hung up on "Vince's trophy". Just so many odd choices there.

Any departure from that horrible McCarthy voice saying "challenge" is a welcome change...

The Wendy's ad (and Wendy's ads in general) that is talking about the spicy chicken sandwich. The ad says something like "you might remember who invented the chicken spicy sandwich. Spoiler it was us." That's not a spoiler, they're just looking to pump in a buzz word.

These dumb ads wouldn't bother me so much, but they last for a good 5-6 weeks or longer before being changed up, and they play them on the radio station I listen to like every other commercial break.

I hate the guy that Arby's has on their commercials. He gets on my last nerve, so much so, I change the channel immediately when their commercials come on. Same with the SOL commercials during Brewers games, just really horrible.

XM Satellite Radio likes to constantly remind you they're a music service that doesn't play ads. I know this because of the frequent ads they play on their stations for themselves.

That guys is the voice for Archer and Bob's Burgers. He definitely has a distinct voice, but yea I guess if you don't know those shows to be predispositioned to like him...

Sidenote: Archer is an absolutely great show. Last few years a bit out there but the first like 6-7 years

The commercials don't bother me but what does get me about them is I think he says "SAMwiches" instead of "sandwiches" and it makes me a little crazy that I can't tell for certain.

If nobody else has noticed I hope that it now becomes something you can't not hear. [laughing]
