With South Carolina and Louisville being eliminated yesterday looks like 30th rounder Dalton Brown, RHP, Texas Tech University and 31st rounder Ryan Aguilar, 1B, University of Arizona are the only (2) Brewers' draftees remaining in the CWS.

AUDIO: RHP Andrew Vernon, the first ever MLB draft pick from North Carolina Central University joined Mike, Lauren and Demetri on The Morning Show at WRAL to talk about his surprise at being taken in the 28th round by the Brewers.

"I was playing NBA2K when the Brewers called"

The best interviews are always the late-round college picks...

Vernon is on his way to Maryvale.

From this link --

Matt Smith had indications that he would be selected in the top 10 rounds of the 2016 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

“I had a Pirates' scout call me the day before asking me if I'd sign,” said Smith, a Seneca Valley graduate and senior right-handed pitcher at Georgetown University.

“Then I didn't hear anything. Then I thought I'd go in the 15-20 range and then the 20-30 range."

Smith, a 6-foot-3 right-handed pitcher, ended up going in the 34th round to the Milwaukee Brewers. “It's a weird system,” Smith said. “When the draft begins, you really don't know where you'll end up or in what round. All bets are off.”

Smith was 3-6 with a 4.56 ERA for Georgetown this year. “I fell a little,” Smith said. “But I can't wait to get going at rookie ball.”

Smith was assigned to the rookie league affiliate Arizona Brewers in Phoenix.

Based on this article, and his spiffy hat in the photo, it would seem that 32nd round RHP Wilson Adams will sign, and will likely be among the many Maryvale arms, but no official confirmation just yet.

And yes, the article's title is a bit premature [smile]

25th round pick (and teammate of Riley Pint) LHP Blake Lillis is still undecided on whether to sign with the Brewers or play college ball with the Razorbacks, per the above link.

Brewers have signed 30th round RHP Dalton Brown out of Texas Tech and assigned him to the Maryvale roster. Brown had been with his club at the College World Series.
