any chance a sticky topic could be placed on the major league page reminding forum members how his name is spelled?

i feel that anyone that types his name any other way affects the integrity of brewerfan.net.

(of course, posts that use the correct sequence of letters from his name to create beings such as "counsanino" or "graffsell" are appropriately funny. "councanino" and "graffcill" are just tragic.

Hopefully, Eugene can use this offseason to work on his punctuation.

Any possible way to add common misspellings of players' names to the profanity filter?

Wouldn't the profanity filter simply replace "Councel" or other misspelling with "@!$##"? (not that this wouldn't have some utility on, say, a 4 strikeout day for Craig)
Or can it be customized to serve as an automatic spell check/corrector for designated words? Because that would be cool.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

This thread is rEdiculous.

I must say, that would certainly provide some degree of amusement [and confusion].

but hardly fair to those using "council" and "counsel" as properly intended.

Hopefully, Eugene can use this offseason to work on his punctuation.

Scott is correct. This would work for Graffanino but not so much Counsell.

I know this is unpopular and no one else will agree, but what does it matter. I understand to a point if someone spells a guys name wrong all the time, such as the first name of the closer once removed, or the current Seattle first baseman, or so on and so forth... But what does it matter if the spelling on here sucks.

For example, if I were to say, (I would never suggest this)

We should trade Dave Buhs, and Yovani Galardo to the Devil Rays for Carl Crawfrd.

These are just typos, this is a message board, it is not English at UW, spelling is not that important. Again, I understand it when someone spells a players name wrong all the time, but it really "ticks" me off whenever a poster make a point, spells the name wrong, and then the first 5 comments are:

Do you mean Richie Weeks?

Or was it Sexton?

Or were you talking about...

It is getting old, annoying, and i think it is immature.

You could probably find 10-15 things written on this worthless post that are spelled wrong, or the verb tense doesn't agree, or the punctuation is wrong, or perhaps the sentence structure is lacking.

IT is a message board.

I agree to a point --

The one that gets me is Mike Maddox -- As their are a lot of athlete Maddox's out there.

I think busting people for misspelling things is a bit much -- but on the other hand learning to spell correctly should be encouraged.

it's about maintaining the integrity of the brewerfan.net website. i thought this site prided itself on being one of the better fan sites for mlb teams.

when the majority of its members come across as insightful and intelligent, it can only boost the credibility (and viewership) of this site.

the more credible this site, the more we can all benefit (for example, revenue opportunities that may arise that allow for amazing improvements for the brewerfan.net faithful).

Hopefully, Eugene can use this offseason to work on his punctuation.

being serious for a moment,

I actually take great pride in spelling things correctly. Heck, many times, I go grab a dictionary before typing something out (if I need it). I'm glad that all my English, spelling, and grammar classes have "paid off" in my career.

Maybe it's just the teacher in me, but I can't allow myself to mis-spell things, if I can help it.

(for the record, I am not trying to be "elitist" or anything like that.)

(also for the record, I counted how many times I had to use the backspace key in this post to correct something that my hands didn't do correctly the first time--and I don't hunt and peck, either. I had to go back and fix a typo 24 times due to my brain thinking faster than my hands can type.)
