Saturday's Daily Menu:

All times are Central

Nashville: RHP Claudio Vargas at home vs. New Orleans (Marlins), 6:20 PM pre-game, 6:35 gametime

Free Live Audio Link

Jeff Hem is the new play-by-play voice of the Sounds; follow him on Twitter @jeffhempbp; we'll link to his blog updates at On the Air…and Off

MiLB.TV -- for subscribers; all Nashville games, home and away, will be available to watch via MiLB.TV's $39.99 season-long package ($9.99 to pay for a single month). We imagine the audio feed is from the home team. All MiLB.TV details available at the link.

**********

Huntsville: RHP Josh Stinson at home vs. Mississippi (Braves), 6:28 PM pre-game, 6:43 gametime

Free Live Audio Link -- Select the Huntsville feed from the MiLB main audio page

I-Phone friendly audio link

Alex Cohen is the new play-by-play voice of the Stars; follow him on Twitter @alexmcohen. It's fantastic that Huntsville is returning to what will be a traditional broadcast format this year. All games, home and away, are scheduled to be broadcast.

MiLB.TV subsciption note: Huntsville road games in four locales (Mississippi, Tennessee, Jacksonville and Pensacola) will be broadcast.

**********

Brevard County: RHP's Taylor Jungmann and Brooks Hall in a doubleheader at home vs. Bradenton (Pirates), 4:05 PM gametime

Free Live Audio Link -- Select the Bradenton feed from the MiLB main audio page

Once again this season, Brevard does not have its own audio coverage. It appears two teams in the Manatees North Division (within which the majority of games are played) have audio, and all six teams in the South Division have audio (at least for their home games), so there will be opportunities to listen to approx. 70% or Brevard's games this season, just all from the opponent's perspective. There are no Florida State League games on MiLB.TV this year.

**********

Wisconsin: RHP Matt Miller at Beloit (Twins), 6:40 PM pre-game, 7:00 gametime

Free Live Audio Link - 1280 AM WNAM

Chris Mehring is back to do his customary fantastic work as the Voice of the Rattlers. Follow him on Twitter @CMehring; we'll link to Chris' infamous blog often -- Rattler Radio.

MiLB.TV -- for subscribers; Wisconsin is one of only two (Great Lakes) Midwest League clubs that have all their home games available via MiLB.TV; Chris' call provides the audio. So for the $39.95 season-long package, fans in Brewer Nation can watch all Sounds games, all Timber Rattlers home games, and 24 Stars' road games (one Helena series this summer, too).

**********

DSL Brewers: at home vs. the DSL Braves in the season opener, 9:30 AM, although game data won't be available until late afternoon at the earliest

I have an avalanche of graduation parties today, I'll get to my updates late tonight. If YG doesn't make an appearance I'll cover the DSL game as well.

Happy DSL Day!

Looking forward to Sthervin and also the pitchers. Our new uber-prospect SS Carlos Belonis will hopefully show his metal.

So, is Osmel Perez done? That is a shame.

surprised they have Arcia on the Helena roster. If he were on the DSL roster this wouldn't count towards his minor-league free agency clock

It would be really cool if we had a cyborg shortstop.

Happy 5-0…
Today, Stars manager Darnell Coles turns 50 years old. The former big leaguer is currently serving the final game of a three-game suspension.

Nashville Media Notes

LACKING QUALITY: Nashville starting pitchers have thrown only one quality start in the last 12 games (Mark Rogers on May 26).

Final: Huntsville 6, Mississippi 2

Huntsville Box Score
I love coming home, fire up the computer, and see a starting pitcher only give up 1 earned run. Josh Stinson pushed his record to 7-2 with a fine 6 inning effort. Josh only allowed 4 hits but he also walked 4 and hit 2 batters while only striking out 3, as you would guess from his peripherals he wasn't very efficient throwing 54 of 94 pitches for strikes while posting a 10:3 ratio. He was also a slacker at the plate and didn't collect a hit dropping his AVE to .417, but that's alright as long as he homers the next time he gets a chance to hit. Jesus Sanchez continued his stellar season with 2 clean innings and Brandon Kintzler retired the side in order in the 9th. After the first half playoff push is over I would hope both Sanchez and Kintzler get the bump to AAA, Kintzler especially doesn't belong in AA.

On the offense side singles hitter Scooter Gennett led the way posting the only multi-hit game going 2-4 with a double. Hunter Morris added the HR which put the game away in the 8th while both Josh Prince and Adam Weisenburger hit run scoring doubles. Kentrail Davis stole his 6th base and Tommy Manzella committed his 4th error (fielding).

Huntsville Play By Play
Stinson's command cost him early.

Todd Cunningham singles on a ground ball to shortstop Tommy Manzella. Philip Gosselin scores. Joe Leonard to 2nd.
Christian Bethancourt walks. Joe Leonard to 3rd. Todd Cunningham to 2nd.
Cory Harrilchak grounds out, second baseman Scooter Gennett to first baseman Hunter Morris.

The only other run the Braves would score.
Mississippi Top of the 5th
Philip Gosselin reaches on fielding error by shortstop Tommy Manzella.

    Christian Bethancourt strikes out swinging.

Huntsville's crooked number in the 4th was all they would need.

'Tees hold on to take first game of double dip
06/02/2012 11:07 PM ET
By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees

VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees held on to win the first game of Saturday night's doubleheader against the Bradenton Maruaders, by the score of 4-3 at Space Coast Stadium. The Marauders scored two in the seventh and had the tying run on second, but their rally was thwarted.

Manatees (22-31) starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann had allowed just one run in six innings before entering the seventh in hopes of a seven-inning complete game. After getting the first out, he hit Carlos Paulino with a pitch and he then advanced to second on defensive indifference. Dan Grovatt then flied out to left for the second out.

With a runner on second and two outs, Jungmann walked Gift Ngoepe and then his night was done. Casey Medlen inherited the runners and allowed them to score on a double to left by Andy Vasquez, which cut Brevard's lead to one and put the tying run in scoring position.

Medlen was able to shut the door on the Marauders (24-30), by striking out Mel Rojas to earn his eighth save of the season. Jungmann (4-4, 4.02) allowed three runs in 6 2/3 innings of work, while allowing seven hits. He walked two and struck out four.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the second, the 'Tees tied it up in the bottom of the inning as Mike Walker led the frame off with a double and was then brought home on a RBI single by Shea Vucinich.

The Manatees took a 4-1 lead in the fourth as Cody Hawn, Parker Berberet and Scott Krieger hit three consecutive doubles. Krieger's double plated Hawn and Berberet while Krieger scored on a RBI single by Franklin Romero Jr.

Bradenton's Jameson Taillon - the second overall pick of the 2010 draft - threw a six-inning complete game, but was saddled with his fifth loss of the season.

Box Score

Fantastic game for the Manatees. They faced a beast in Jameson Taillon and the pretty much owned the game. By the way, did Jameson's parents have a thing for Irish whiskey?

Taylor Jungmann dominated and deserved a better line but Casey Medlen allowed two inherited runners to score in the top of the 7th before "earning" the save. Final line for Jungmann: 6.2 IP 7 H 3 R 3 ER 2 BB 4 K 2 WP 1 HBP 7:4 GO:FO 1 Pickoff.

The hitters had four 2B's tonight, including three in a row in the 3-run 4th. In the win, no hitter recorded more than one hit and walk combined.

The Manatee base runners apparently sniffed out a good opportunity in this one. Four steals, including Reggie Keen's 18th and 19th.

Game Log

May have been a planned pickoff.

Bradenton Top of the 2nd

Alex Dickerson doubles (9) on a line drive to left fielder Scott Krieger.
With Stefan Welch batting, wild pitch by Taylor Jungmann, Alex Dickerson to 3rd.
Stefan Welch lines out to pitcher Taylor Jungmann.
Evan Chambers walks.
With Justin Howard batting, Evan Chambers picked off and caught stealing 2nd base, pitcher Taylor Jungmann to first baseman Mike Walker to shortstop Nick Shaw, Alex Dickerson scores.
Justin Howard doubles (6) on a line drive to left fielder Scott Krieger.
Carlos Paulino grounds out, second baseman Shea Vucinich to first baseman Mike Walker.

Manatees Sweep Marauders
06/02/2012 2:28 PM ET
By Bradenton Marauders

Viera, FL- The Bradenton Marauders (24-31) dropped both games of a doubleheader at Brevard County (23-31) on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. The Marauders fell by scores of 4-3 and 4-1 and have now lost eight straight road games.

The Marauders scored first in the first game when Justin Howard doubled home Alex Dickerson, who had doubled off Taylor Jungmann (W, 4-4) to start the inning. Howard went 2-6 with two doubles between the two games. Dickerson was a combined 2-6 with a run scored and one batted in.

Jameson Taillon (L, 3-5) pitched all six innings of game one, but a run in the second and a three-run Manatees outburst in the fourth sent the righty to his third loss in his last four starts. Taillon struck out four.

The Marauders closed the gap to one in the final inning of the first game on a two-RBI double by Andy Vasquez with two outs. Casey Medlen struck out Mel Rojas Jr. for the final out to secure his eighth save. Rojas went 3-7 between the two games.

In game two the Manatees scored one run in each of the first four innings off Casey Sadler (L, 0-2). Brooks Hall (W 1-2) and Eric Marzec made it stand up. The Marauders only run scored in the sixth on an RBI-single off Hall by Dickerson.

Eliecer Navarro and Zach Foster each pitched a scoreless inning in game two of the twin bill.

The Marauders play the Manatees Sunday at 5:05pm in the third game of the series. It will feature a matchup of 2012 FSL All Stars, with Gerrit Cole hurling for Bradenton and Jimmy Nelson pitching for Brevard County.

Final: Beloit 9, Wisconsin 5

Beloit beats Wisconsin to tie Rattlers for division lead
By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

BELOIT, WI - The Beloit Snappers bombarded the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for nine runs in the middle of the game Saturday night at Pohlman Field. It was enough for the Snappers to defeat Wisconsin 9-5. Both teams are 34-22 on the season and are tied for the lead in the Midwest League's Western Division with fourteen games remaining in the first half.

Both teams broke the ice in the fourth inning. Wisconsin got a pair of runs in the top of the inning. Brandon Macias doubled and would later score on a single by Jason Rogers. Rogers scored on a wild pitch by Beloit starting pitcher Matt Summers.

The Snappers answered the Rattlers runs with five of their own in the bottom of the fifth inning. The first three batters reached against Wisconsin starter Matt Miller on a double, a single, and a hit batsman. Then, Matt Koch doubled in a pair of runs to tie the game. Kyle Knudson lined the next pitch to center for a two-run single to put the Snappers up 4-2 and there were still no outs in the inning. Miller would allow one more run in the inning on a two-out, RBI single by Eddie Rosario.

The Rattlers loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the fifth inning, but looked like they would miss an opportunity. But, a popup to third off the bat of Nick Ramirez was dropped by Sano. Two runs scored and Wisconsin pulled to within a run.

But, Beloit rallied for four more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The first two batters of the inning reached on singles against Miller to put runners on first and third. Those were the ninth and tenth hits of the game given up by Miller and that forced a call to the bullpen. Stephen Peterson took over for Miller and got a force out at second that allowed a run to score.

A walk, a balk, and an intentional walk loaded the bases and AJ Pettersen made the score 7-4. Another walk reloaded the bases and Nate Roberts drove a two-run single to center to put Beloit up 9-4.

Wisconsin scored a run in the sixth on a single by Macias. The third hit of the game by the Rattlers third baseman pulled the Rattlers to within 9-5, but that was the last run of the game.

The top two teams in the division at the end of the first half will qualify for the Midwest League playoffs. Wisconsin and Beloit are both five games up on third place Kane County after the Cougars lost 15-3 at home to the Peoria Chiefs on Saturday night.

Game two of the three game series is Sunday afternoon at Pohlman Field. Drew Gagnon (3-1, 3.18) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Tyler Jones (0-0, 1.29) is set to start for the Snappers. Game time is 2:00pm.

Tune in for the broadcast on AM1280, WNAM or timberrattlers.com starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 1:40pm.

WP: Matt Summers (5-3)
LP: Matt Miller (3-5)

TIME: 3:10
ATTN: 2,256

Wisconsin Box Score
Certainly not the way you want to pitch when the first half crown is on the line, at least Tyler Cravy bounced back and pitched well with 3 scoreless innings.

Brandon Macias went 3-5 with double and has 6 hits in his last 10 ABs. Jason Rogers posted the other multi-hit game going 2-4 with a double and Nick Ramirez added a double of his own. Beloit ran all over the Rattlers collecting 5 stolen bases but the Rattlers did play clean defense and Max Walla added an OF assist.

Prospect followers will know that Miguel Sano is the best prospect in the Twins organization and one of the best hitters in the minors but his defense is atrocious. He committed his 20th(!) error of the season in tonight's contest, that's 20 errors in 54 games.

Wisconsin Play By Play
Let's hope the boys turn it around tomorrow.
