yeah, the Pirates (and that little girl) definitely got hosed on that call. Absolutely terrible.

For the Braves, that is a pretty crappy way to win a game.

(for the Brewers, I'll take it 'cause we need a break every now and then)

So heres a screenshot of the supposed to be out:

The ump should be fired. I wanted the Braves to win too but I didnt want the game handed to them by an ump.

He was tagged three times before got anywhere near the plate. Worst of all, Proctor fell down running to first, so it could have been a double play.

MLB absolutely has to review this call. For a team in the midst of a division race this shouldnt be happening.

This. I'm all for the Pirates losing, but not like that. To play 19 innings and get sent home on that call is ridiculous. There has to be some kind of accountability.

Oh, my goodness. How much does that scream "let's end this game"? And how will Chris Carpenter explain this to his son?

It's unfortunate that this comes at the expense of the Pirates, but the ripple effect on the twitterverse is sort of amusing, at least from a linguistic point of view.

Now that Casey got a big hit, I think he should go back to hitting fifth. Jerry Meals says it's safe. Image

I'm probably overreacting to the overreaction to that call but I don't think it was the worst call I've ever seen. It was a terrible tag by the catcher, and even on slow motion replay it's pretty close as to whether he grazed his leg with the glove or not. Do I think he got him? Yes, but it's a lot closer than what the reaction has been. In real time I might have called him safe too since on the high speed swipe his glove didn't even deviate from it's position as it went past the runner's leg so it's hard to tell if contact was made. Unless the catcher was going to throw to first there was no need to do a swipe tag like that.

I don't know my current email or password for this site. Somebody help me.

Well, he was going to throw to first because Scott Proctor tripped over his own feet and it was an easy double play.

i HATE when umpires make a safe call just because the ball beat the player to the plate. But when the ball beats him by THAT much, it has to be absolutely clear that the tag missed, the player slid around it, etc. That was not the case here.

The Pirates/Braves are headed to extra innings again it looks like.

Also St. Louis is losing 2-1 to the Astros in bottom of the 8th.

Cincinnati already lost.

St Louis down one and Pittsburgh up one. Would be nice to get a little more separation

Buccos win, Classies lose. Up a game and a half on both...need all we can get.

Have to say this week was the most I've seen the Pirates play in awhile...these aren't the dregs of the division they've been the last decade. They may not win it, but they are legit.
