One of my biggest fears about short-term Brewers' success is that we will be stuck with RRR for a lot longer. Ugh. He's the first Brewers' manager that I have disliked from the first month of his tenure.

Give a brilliant manager a terrible team..........fired in 3 years or less.

Give a terrible manager a talented team, he's a manager of the year candidate.

This is how sports works, unfortunately.

if the Brewers get swept by the Braves in 3 games, I'm going to be upset for a little while, but I'm still going to go to bed next to my wife, get up the next morning, and go to work.

So whether it is ok to cheer for Yuni to get injured or not is not the point. The point is that the whole idea/theme of the conversation about Yuni is against the purpose of the IGT.
You're a better man than I. If they get swept by the Braves, I almost certainly will take a personal day to stew about it abd get my head right before I return to work. I agree with your last point. Pages of pros and cons of wishing injury on Yuni should not be the purpose of IGT.

Is wishing a sports player gets released (the mental anguish they go through, loss of money, etc.) really that much better/different than hoping a guy gets a broken bone in his hand, which he will most likely recover from while he continues to be paid his full salary?

Just something to think about when snapping to moral judgments.

Getting released and injured are different. One is something you presumably have no control over, and the other involves putting yourself in that position due to poor performance. With that being said, I wouldn't feel all that bad for Yuni if he hurt his hand, since he pretty much put his hand in harm's way. But I'm not going to wish it happens to him. If I'm at work and want a promotion, do I wish the guy ahead of me breaks both his hands so he can't program on a computer? Does that count as real life? If you're paid enough, then it stops being real life? If he gets released due to poor performance, that's on him.

How about we actually throw some negative criticism for this particular loss at the guy who is more responsible for this loss than anyone else - Fielder. His poor defense led to the only 2 runs the Cards scored, he couldn't get the job done with the tying run at 3rd and less than two outs, and his lack of speed made a force play easy on that bunt in the 9th. Aside from that, tip of the cap to Edwin Jackson for shutting the Crew down...hopefully the Crew can bounce back an even the series up tomorrow.

Tough to pinch run for Fielder in that situation - but you almost have to if you're playing for the tie. Put a pinch runner in for Fielder no matter what and deal with position changes in extras if you need to later.

There's absolutely no appropriate reason to openly root for an injury to a player, let alone for a player on a team you supposedly support. I thought this board was a good place for Brewer fans to visit to stay away from this sort of crap. We've had alot of fun with all the posts deriding "the classies" in STL recently - some of it's apparently been coming from hypocrites..

The thing that is frustrating is that Yuni is now in an 0-22 stretch and hasn't seen a day off since July 17. I don't understand why RR insists on playing him everyday when he should be at least getting a couple days off a week. Sure Yuni could get hot again, but I am sick of seeing his 1st pitch pop ups and him hitting 6th in the order.
Hart, Weeks, McGehee... they all got days off over the course of the season. Yuni is treated like Braun and Fielder, never made any sense, never will.

Can you imagine the way the board would light up if Prince lets one through the wickets in a playoff series? Bill Buckner anybody?

If sports are not real life, why get so upset about it?

Are you kidding, YOU are the one getting so upset about everything, if you go back and read some of my comments from the 9th inning you will see (well you would have seen since I assume the People's Republic of Brewerfan deemed my comments not worthy) that I made one comment hoping Yuni broke his hand because I want the Brewers to win the World Series and then quickly moved on to talk about other aspects of the game.

All the soccer mom PC types who turned this into a multiple page discussion on how shameful and classless I am and what a horrible person I am are the ones who got upset, including you your holiness.

The Brewers front office isn't reading your posts. Just a bunch of other guys in front of their computers watching the games.

They aren't reading your posts either, so I guess you should not post here probably

Not to throw out insults to players (they aren't reading the forum either).

They wont read it if you say they did a great job so what exactly is the point of doing that, since your point is that insulting them doesn't matter since they wont read it.

Part of being a sports fan is to get upset about your guys screwing things up, I mean what do you do when you watch games, just sit there are say nice try and then get happy when they hit dingers?

So I can't judge on Green, all I have is the numbers.
If you cant judge a player based on their numbers you should not be an authority on a serious baseball discussion forum. Who do you think is the best player of all-time? Albert Pujols because you have never seen Babe Ruth play? I guess you cant make any decision on Ruth since all you have is his numbers.

Green at least deserves a shot, maybe he will be terrible and you can go back to McGehee who is also terrible.

People realize that players have weaknesses that offset their strengths. Prince is a bad fielder and a slow baserunner, but he makes up for it 100 times over with his brilliant offensive performance.

I'm still trying to figure out what Betancourt's strength is that offsets everything he's weak at.

Exactly! Since Yuni's last day off these are the players that have had time off:

Hart - 8/7, 8/14, 8/22
McGehee - 7/24, 8/7, 8/14, 8/22

Personally, I don't think there is much of a drop-off when putting Wilson or Counsell at SS. They both can't hit, but at least Counsell can play some defense.

Wishing injury on a player, whether he's on our team or an opponent, isn't what this board is about. Mods have made that clear multiple times in this topic, yet the discussion has continued… and continued and continued. This thread is closed.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
