You are such a jagoff, Matheny.

"You're not going to have him when you want him and you're going to run out of games. He can't pitch 90 games. It's just not going to work. If anyone thinks it's going to work, show me how."- Craig Counsell on Josh Hader.

Oh well, can’t win them all. At least the Cubs will lose.

Killed one third of our innings today with GIDPs. That won't cut it.

Sucks that Molina was the one to kill us today. Jeffress has been so good this year, wish the offense could have picked him up.

Would be disappointing to come out of this series with a split tomorrow.

Silver lining is the Cardinals have used their best two BP options on back-to-back days. Get to Weaver early tomorrow, boys. 3 of 4 would be awesome, but we head into the off day in 1st no matter what!

We have scored 2 runs or less in nearly 40% (29) of our games this year.

I don't know. That just feels...alarming. Maybe I'm wrong.

It seems both alarming and that is likely a product of an offense that has such a wide gap between the producers and non-producers.

Can Stearns swing a deal for that very good Miami catcher. That would fix things.

Feast or famine with this team

If we upgrade C , I feel much better about the bottom of the order and Saladino can’t come back fast enough ...

Miller should help. I'm not totally going to discount the possibility of Hiura being a second half callup if they feel his glove his ready. He'd be an instant offensive upgrade at 2nd.

Catcher, I can't understand why they won't give someone like Nottingham or Bethancourt a shot at extended time. Of course Jett Bandy is raking now.

Realmuto is obviously the possible prize acquisition, question is at what price.

As an aside, I wasn't nuts about the way Counsell managed the bench today. As far as I'm concerned, if Eric Sogard comes to the plate as your last hope in a 1 run 9th inning game, which he would have if Pina didn't GIDP first -- you screwed up.

Cain leaving for Braun because of injury was what forced Sogard in, I think. Braun is getting that AB at some point. Villar had already been used, and then the double-switch for Miller.

Tough to blame CC on Sogard IMO.
