Brett Tomko is almost as bad as Glendon Rusch. I very much hope that the Brewers score about 15 runs today to make up for the last two embarassments.

And Ruben: please pitch well today.

Thank you,
~Bill

The Brewers need this win for a few reasons:

1. take a tie for the four game series.

2. Not lose ANOTHER series at home.

3. Have ONE quality start through the whole rotation.

4. Give me a good game to watch at work!!!! :)

Q will give a good 6 innings. Hopefully then we'll see Ford/Estrella, Leskanic, and a GOOD Dejean. If it were up to me, I'd put Leskanic back in the closer role but...

Brewers 5, Cards 4

Could it be?!?! Cruz actually getting a start and at 2B? He could actually get 5 or 6 starts this year at that that rate!

I guess it wouldn't be a home game if the Brewers weren't down after half an inning.

Damnit, second and third, with one out, can can't even get a fly RBI. Probably won't get another baserunner till the 8th.

Ginter and Cruz in the lineup at the same time? Incredible. Now just swap Helms in for Clayton and it's coming together.

Well the offense isn't doing too much either as they are making Tomko look pretty good while better teams make him look like Glendon Rusch.

Look out Padres here we come!

Stearns probably had no interest in getting a C because the Brewers need a C. It makes much more sense to trade for 3B when it's not needed, and then move the other 3B to 2B, then trade for a 2B, but since the 3B is now at 2B, then the new 2B goes to SS

Like I said last night:

Maybe our awful home record has something to do with the fact that for nearly every home game, we're losing before the Brewers even get a chance to bat. Is it too much to ask that we come up to bat in the bottom of the 1st in a tie game with the chance to get a lead for once?

Jim Powell just talked about Matt Ford and potentially putting him in the rotation. He said that he didn't like that idea... he was happy that the Brewers are putting him into selective spots, setting him up to succeed, and being careful about how much they use him. Makes a lot of sense. He also mentioned that Ford will go to the Arizona Fall League as a starter... I hadn't heard that before but it makes sense. And if that's the case, it would probably be a bad idea to get him too many innings this year - wouldn't want him to burn out during/after the fall league.

Anyway, figured those of you not listening would be interested.

What is the damn score of the game anyway? 8-2 or 8-3? Seems the internet is gliched!

the #4-5 Starters (Rusch-Ruben) are horrible and are an embarrashment .Rusch should never pitch for the brewers and Ruben just can"t pitch with hi 87 MPH Fastball.

Kinney still is pretty constant but needs to cut down on walks.

Sheets has not proven he can be a #1 Starter.
he just has not learned to pitch and needs a 3rd pitch.

Franklin is a battler who can be a good #4 and the team seems to win when he pitches.

The Really sad thing is we have no one ready to take
Ruben or rusch spot .

O @#%$, Matt Ford was allowed to pitch 3 innings. You know what that means..... a couple more 3-4 inning games for Ford and Rusch will be outa here! Of course that means he may get another 2 or so starts.... ack!

Whether it was intentional or not, it was good to give the bullpen a day off.

I really don't see what harm it would do to give Ford a few starts.....Is the pressure of being a starter for the Breweres going to be too much for him to handle?Image

Oh good. I'm glad we're saving one of our better relievers so he can get more work in the AFL. Don't want to over burden him by having him get ML players out when we can have him pitch meaningless innings in the Fall.

Setting him up to succeed? Too bad that approach doesn't hold for any other player on the team.

Remember, Milwaukee does have a day off on the 23rd. Maybe Ford has his debut on the 24th? Try for a 5 inning outing?

sadly, but probably a necessity

even though it sounds like the Crew was getting whalloped, you still want to throw some quality innings in there.

What a good pickup though...starting over in Arizona so he can build himself and his name through the minors...maybe he can be a late addition to the staff once all the youngeons take over

Sure would sound nice to have another wave in the minors after these kids. Maybe Ford/Cruz (Foster?) can start over with the rookies the team drafted this year.

Final line on Matt Ford:
4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K

....against a better than average Cards Lineup.

I'm thinking the unthinkable.... throw the kid in the rotation. If he gets hit hard, move him back to relief. How sweet would it be if Matt Ford never had to see the minors again?
