Headed to Milwaukee for the game tonight and the whole series this weekend. Very excited for my first game there since 2001 and second game ever at Miller Park!
The Twins pitching staff has not looked good recently with the exception of Joe Mays yesterday. It will still be hard for them to get outpitched by the Brewers of course. There is the possibility of some slugfests this weekend. I'm hoping the Twins' staff can continue to struggle a bit, while Sheets, Franklin, and Kinney (against his old team) can come through. Radke, though, has been astoundingly better on the road (2-2, 2.72) than at home (3-4 8.93), and the Twins are actually better on the road (21-15 vs 18-17 at home).
Let's hope 3B Corey Koskie cools down. He has been on a tear at .556/.674/.939 and 13 RBI in the past 9 games.

this will be interesting as the only person I can compare Sheets' mechanics to is Radke. Should be a fun game.

[Warning: Shameless Self-Promotion]

I'm starting a Brewers'-specific weblog and the latest post is a series preview. If you're interested, surf on over to http://mountaincry.com/brew/. There is not nearly enough Brewers' blogs and so hopefully this will be a good addition to Al's Ramblings... and I will take every opportunity to direct fans over to BF.net.

If you've got comments or feedback, those are appreciated, too!

Thanks,
~Bill

Well, that was a nice change of pace in the top of the 1st. Sheets throws 8 pitches, and doesn't throw a single ball, including two 3 pitch Ks.

Boo yah! Great start by Ben Sheets, and a great win for the Brewers. That was a fun game....some great defensive plays by the Twins.

I'd like to see the Brewers win again in person sometime this year. I've got quite a losing streak working.....would be fun to beat Minnesoooooooooooooooooota 2 in a row.

Wow, I just got home and that might be the home game of the year... I didn't think they'd be able to top Vandy's walkoff job against San Diego but this was one heck of a game.

Attendance was a little more than 25k and a good percentage were Twinkies fans. I was very impressed - they were enthusiastic, respectful, loud, and generally very likeable compared to our friends from the south who also like to inhabit Miller Park. It was unbelievable how many signs there were, mostly "Bert Circle Me" stuff but also some interesting ones.

Sheets pitched very, very well... both runs were a result of (ugly) errors and he didn't give up a home run! That's right - he didn't give up a home run! Not even one!

Ginter got an at-bat and hit an absolute rocket to left but Jacque Jones made a web gem quality catch to rob him, slamming into the scoreboard. I tell ya'... get that guy some ABs!

I'll be back tomorrow... would be nice to win a series against the Twins!

Great game,
~Bill

I don't get to watch the Brewers on TV that often, and this was a darn fun game to watch, especially me, one Brewer fan in the midst of 5 Twins fans. Sheets was spectacular tonight, and the Brewers beat a vastly superior team with a little discipline and a little luck. However, after watching Osik tonight, I am beginning to agree more with his haters than supporters. He had a horrific game, especially defensively.

Osik is very difficult to support... it seems like every time he starts to disprove the detractors he has a game like tonight. That throw to third (err, left field) was one of the worst plays I've seen all year. There was no way he was going to throw out the runner and he didn't even come close to giving Helms a chance to catch it. Ugly, ugly, ugly. And with two outs, it didn't really matter... the runner would have scored from second on a single anyway.

Oh well. Nothing can damper the joy of sending the Twins fans home unhappy! Image

I hear it about the Twins. I was standing up and clapping when Rincon threw that wild pitch, and the other guys were just sitting there in a daze. Sometimes the Brewers are a darn fun team to watch, and this was one of those nights.

That was nice! What a great game to see in person. Sheets was unreal, Sexson's play at first was one of the greatest defensive plays of the year(even if it was luck), and shutting up those Twins fans was great. I think the crowd was about 65/35 in favor of the Brewers.

That was not the best home game of the year, that award has to go to Eddie Perez's walkoff vs the Reds. But this win was special because the Brewers were so close with a couple of nice drives by Helms and Ginter, but came out on top in the end.

A good game all around; nice to see the Brewers win.

There can never be enough Brewers' weblogs. I'll give you a plug on Ramblings ASAP, if half my audience visits, that'll be 3 visitors right there.:)

I think this is the best Sheets has pitched all year. I just hope he builds off this and goes on a tear.

I believe that's three straight where he's gotten more groundouts than flyouts, so hopefully Ben has righted the ship and will continue to get groundouts as he has in his brief history.

On a sidenote, I was at the Dbacks vs Reds game tonight, and I can't believe the ending. Reds up 5-4, Williamson in. Walks Womack, then bad pickoff throw sends Womack to third, where a wild pitch scores him to tie it. a few pitches later, Cintron hits a jack and the Tucson Sidewinders...err, Az Dbacks were jumping and celebrating at the plate.

Being up here in MN with Toby et al it was the highlight of my week getting to watch the game. By the second inning I had a good feeling because Sheets was dominant while Radke was merely good. For those that don't believe in the power of OF defense the Twins took 3 doubles off the board. And doubles are worth a lot more than singles. And Mike is right the Eddie Perez walk-off was the best game so far, though I thought Keith had one their for a moment.
